subaru buying advise needed

hi all i'm about to start looking for a subaru
the type i have my eye on is version7 sti wrx type uk
i know the usual crash damage stuff etc ,
but is there any problems i should look out with the engine , gear box is there any where they might suffer from rust !!! ( just paranoid about that as i have a cosworth )

ps if you know of any for sale let me know

If you can get an independant inspection - might cost a couple hundred quid but could save thousands in long term - usual stuff, check tyres and brakes inc discs as if you have to replace all these it will be well over a grand.
If its a Jap import make sure its been remapped to run on UK fuel as some did not and as a result run a bit lean - anyway i'm no expert but i'm sure the tech bods will be on here shortly.
