Default Classics Vs Newage

This is a battle that continues to rage, but I would like your opinions please.

The scenario is that you have £30,000 to spend on a Scooby of your choice, what version would you buy?

Classic
Facelift
Bugeye
Blobeye
Hawkeye
2008?

The actual poll for this is:https://www.scoobynet.com/essex-scoo...ml#post7550428

This IS NOT a debate as to which model is better, but a poll to find the most popular incarnation.

Thank you

Hawkeye Spec C RA
Hawkeye Spec C RA-R
2008 STi PPP400

One of those would do for £30k.

Maybe a Type25

There's no way i'd buy a classic with that sort of money.

You're telling me if you had £30k to spend on a Subaru, which pretty much covers most of the range. You'd buy a classic?

If I had 30K I HAD to spend on one Impreza it would be a 2door classic tuned to perfection....not for outright track/power but for everyday useability...

I would Indeed, and to date I have probably sank a good 15k into mine already....with many more pounds to spend on it....

I love em, however I would like a two door type R, but I'm happy with what I have at the minute, then one day I may have a Type R and keep the RA.

Oh, if the options were to get a new bathroom/holiday or keep the money, then yes, i'd probably get a well tuned classic and keep the majority of the money.

But i didn't see that option.

If it was spend the money only on the car or lose it. I wander what peoples opinions would be then.....

Oh, in that case I'd have a 2004/2005 type 25 and buy a few more bits for it with whatever was left.

RA-R but with the seats from an S204

Or

JDM Prodrive Style Bugeye (Spec C based) and mod it.

Or

22b best I could find and hide it away

Or

Tidy Classic Type R WRC V Ltd and pay off a chunk of the mortgage.

If I had £30K

2. 22B.
3. Hawkeye Spec C RA-R.

Sorry to hijack, but here's a twist on things. What about if you had 10 grand to spend?

Just I've got to the point where I've spent a fair whack on keeping my v4 wagon on the road and tuning it up ('maintenance' as far as the wife's concerned) but I got to thinking, would I be better off using something newer as a base car to work from. When I look at the cost of 6-speed STi gearboxes which are needed for a big power classic, I wonder whether it would make more sense to buy the whole car as well as the box? No idea what these things cost though.

Keeping on topic though, I'd really love a mint STi 6 wagon then do the necessary to find 450bhp, and do it properly, planned and in one go, rather than a bit here and a bit there, as most of us end up doing, me included!

DITTO says it all really

Looking at the Poll above 1/3rd of Votes for Classic and 2/3rd for Newage

Who would spend £30K on a 8+ year old Classic

Tony
