Dont you just love forums?
If its a WRX Saloon its rated at 276bhp: if its a 'Wagon then its rated at 237bhp. Both of these are assuming higher octane fuel than we have so Id expect to lose up to fifteen bhp from the Saloons figure, but a good deal less from the 'Wagon.

Only real way to tell is get it on a rolling road. In theory if it is all completely standard and brand new then it would be making 276 if it were run on Japanese fuel.
On UK fuel, less, if its high mileage, even less, if its been modded maybe more etc.. etc...

Rubbish! 1993 & 1994 WRX Saloons were rated at 240PS. 1995 & 1996 WRXs were rated at 260PS. MY97 onwards Classics were rated at 280PS.

They were rated at 280PS too Andy but the factory quoted torque figures were more impressive. I havent ever owned or imported an STI, but I believe that (the later cars, V3s onwards certainly) they were good for closer to 300PS in reality.

I have a 99 Sti v6 which i have a print out as stock and a print out with a mines ecu before it was exported from Japan (pick it up next week).
Stock - 296bhp
Mine's - 329bhp
Throw an exhaust, induction, fmic ec into that equation and im goin to be poor for having to buy new big brakes lol.

Id missed this: only late UK cars used the FE TD04, JDM vehicles used the IHI turbocharger, as stated above (assuming that we are talking about Saloons?).
