He's only been world champion 5 mins and he's on his high horse already.......

As he pointed out on C4 last night, he's finished ahead of Colin in the championship for the last three years. Not that the constant needling from McRae is getting to him, of course.

McRae is a constant whinger.
hes got the car, just cant keep it on the road.
always blames someone else.
come on Burnsie - England rules, always has and always will do.
Funny how McRae, as said last night, is a Scot.
British when they want something - Scot when they've something to rave about.

Still feel that any sport where team orders can dictate the finishing positions is only a real team event.
Burns and others clearly 'won' points when they were not the best drivers in some rounds of the WRC. Spoils the toast of victory a little I thought???

I think McRae always accepts responsibility for his 'actions' whether they lead to big Offs or whatever. Not seen him blame anyone else, unlike whinge boy Burns. McRae fully acknowledges that his style is to drive on the edge and it can be risky

McRae's generally acknowledged as the fastest of the current drivers. That's always been his style, he's not going to change at this stage in his career.
DAC - thanks for your unbiased view, but please don't get me started on the Scottish/English/British thing again, doctor's orders. Stop whinging!
Mike.

Well, as I remember when McRae moved to Ford, he was quick straight away. Makinen leads the Monte in a new car, but where is Mr Burns?
Languishing in 10th, 51 secs off the pace, that's where!
No good will ever come of ginger hair!
Geezer

P1,
I think you'll find some are more likely to consistently take larger risks than others
Do you thnk Burns 'drives on the edge' to the same extent that McRae does? I don't think he'd have the nads

I have to say I agree about McRae. I didn't like the comment "I prefer to think there has been one Scottish World Champion and one English World Champion"
It's comments like that, coupled together with the inability to keep a car on the road when it matters, which will lessen my respect for Colin.
Yes Colin, we all know that you are quicker from A to B and you are the 'gung-ho' popular vote etc etc, but Burns is World Champion. It's as simple as that.

blubs you fat chump! "He's world champion, it's as simple as that"
pah! So you think that Mark Lovell was worthy of being British Rally Champion in '86? He was gifted the championship just as Burns was (admittedly by McRash!), but that doesn't make him the best driver.
It's like when we play CM2, you repeatedly kick mine and Maxwells *****, but deep down, we both know I am superior!!!!

Performance at that level is all about physcology, It would appear that both McRae and Burns find winding each other up in the press a good stimulant. If it keeps the press interested and coverage high then thats probably not a coincedence either
I'm just glad we have two British Drivers at the top - if only we could say the same in more sports

Have to say it's true, and the news is to blame. If someone who isn't English wins its a great win for Britain, but if someone English wins its a great win for England. Same as when somethign bad happens in London, everyone in the country has to know about it, if something happens outside of London the media isn't bothered at all. If you think I am stirring the $hit then buy a rag like the sun or mirror in one part of the country, then buy the same paper in another part of the country and see how different the paper is!

Burns finished higher last 3 years
Mmmmmmmmm - Mcrae must be better and faster then
I always thought it was consistency over all rounds.
Mikeswagon : I'm British by birth, but English by the grace of god.
Its Scots like Mcrae that wind the English up.

The English wind everybody up!
Anyway....
Saying that Burns is better than McRae because he is world champion is like saying that Retief Goosen is better than Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus becasue he won a major this year and they didn't!
Sure, he deserved to be champion this year, and good luck to him, but he is not as good as McRae, Gronholm or Makinen.

Well if anyone asks my nationality it's English, so I don't have a problem with Mcrae or any other Mac proclaiming they're Scottish!
But the time to shout from the rooftops is when they have a successful Scottish Rally (or any other) Team

who really cares about English Scottish and British? For the first time in many years we have a grown up at the wheel of a scooby. When was the last time you remember Mak getting caught up in a childish wind up session?

DAC don't you mean that he's British when he wins something and when he doesnt win English W????? like you(not saying all English ppl are W????? but u r) refer to him as a Scot.
Also why do u try and turn it into a Scotland Vs England thing, I was happy for Burns when he won.
