Default Changing the speedo from Km to Miles on JDM

Hi

I have done a couple of searches but not managed to find the answer im after, so sorry if this has been asked before.

I am planning on getting an 07 JDM Sti or Spec C in the next few months and i as far as i can see on Litchfield they speedos are in km.

Is there an aftermarket faceplate I can have fitted that will show both miles and km or is it not as simple as that..

I know the milage will still be in km but it would be nice to be able to see what speed you are going with out having to convert it all the time.

Thanks

Vash

once the speedo converter is added it clocks up im miles per hour, the only way to tell it was Kmph is by looking at the bottom of the speedo where there is a small sticker

A converter is installed so that the kpm now reads mph, and a sticker put over the k...

I was after the same thing with mine (as I dont really like have 200mph+ speedo), but alas have not found a solution

Got My JDM Leggy from Iain Litchfield. The car will be ready for UK use, mapped, taxed, plates, clocks adjusted the whole 9 yds. Top quailty service so don't worry to much.

Ian

PM me if you want any more info.

Where the clock originally read 0-260kph, it will now read 0-260mph once the conversion has taken place. Same 'physical' clock but it just now reads in mph instead.

^^ Clocks in Japan read 180kmh don't they so will change to 180mph once converted for the UK. My Spec C certainly does

I'll take the usual opportunity to plug PCM (Performance Centre Manchester) as the company that supplied my MY05 Spec C - fantastic pre & post sales service

My gauges have an MPH at the bottom, so I think I answered the question. I see he is also getting the car from the same place as me and part of the deal is a clock conversion to MPH.

My mileage and Trip Computer are also in MPH no not Km's. I have the electro luminesent dials that sweep on start up a la STI. The GPS and Trip are the same after a journey too so I think it is possible to do. The speedo is out by about 5 MPH compared to the Sat Nav as well.

So does mine, but it is a sticker over the 'k' so it now reads 'mph'. My mileage etc is all in mph too....

Maybe yours was a one off that Iain got a UK cluster for... every jdm I have seen has a kph gauge recalibrated to read mph

My clocks read 0-260kph, so effectively they are now 0-260mph after being changed. Edited my original post as I tried to remember from memory what the range was without actually checking.

the speedo does not say KMPH unless you look at the bottom of the speedo next to where the trip counter is , 70mph is the same wether it is a kmph speedo or a mph speedo! In other words once the converter is added 70 on an import speedo is still 70 Its the only picture I could find but if you see that the only way you can tell its mph is the sticker at the bottom all the speedo's look the same for each year that is The main thing that annoys me with my speedo is a bit of black tape over the K from Kmph

This is not rocket sciene. Its not about what the dial says it is about where the needle is in relation to the dial...

Everyone has learnt to drive with a mph dial where 30 is around 8 o'clock, 80 is at the top and 140 is at 3 o'clock.. or thereabouts.

It is very disconcerning when the top speed of your car is reached at the top of the dial. I have 100mph spare on my dial...!!

arrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

My speedo reads from 0 mph to 260 mph therefore 130 is at the top of the dial. This is because its a kph dial that has been recalibrated to read mph, so yes, 70 would be 70, but the needle at 70 (on a fooking kph gauge) is where 30 would be on a normal uk mph dial (the needle not the number)

well when he does hit the 260 kph he's only going to be doing around 162 mph

to work kph to mph you need to times kph by 0.625 and it will give you the mph figure

hope this helps someone in the future

I' m of the opinion that the original request was where do I get a new face to fit the KPH dial that will read MPH without the converter that is normally fitted. I think that the poster didn't realise that a converter is fitted to the rear of the gauge to show MPH instead of KPH on the needle.
Vash don't worry about it mate it'll be sorted before delivery is the answer you're looking for.

Does no one else find it strange (hard work) to drive with a range from 0 - 260mph? I for one would like to change to a 'genuine' mpg dial or face, but alas my dial is unique.

Personally I don't find it difficult. Why should it be?

Default Same speedo issue, different resolution needed

I've been reading this thread with interest because I have a related issue. I live in New Zealand, where all cars have metric speedos. However, my JDM Spec S (Version 8) has a speedo that only goes up to 180 km/h. I've had the speed limiter removed, and the car is modified (quite a bit). As a result, I'm off the speedo by the end of the quarter mile. While this is thrilling in its own way, I really want to get a 260 km/h speedo for this car but no-one in NZ or Australia can help. What's really annoying about this is that it's clear the S204 speedo would fit right it, and do the job perfectly (there are two S204s in town). Can anyone help? I can send a photo of the current speedo, if that helps.

As I mentioned further up this thread, JDM 06 onwards (GDB-F~) had 260kmph gauges fitted, same as the S204. I'm trying to get hold of a set, unfortunately here they are US$400+.....used and I don't see many on the market...
