Default 2.5 06 STi

is this a better or worse place to start for best torque / £ than 05 2 ltre STi - conversion cost must be sensible and can assume a PPP base car if preferred

I believe the 2 litre tops out at c 350 lb ft without going to cost of turbo change etc

Can 2.5 get near 400 lb ft for similar modest changes?

ive got an 06 sti and had a bob rawle remap, fuel pump full 3" system and air filter, according to printout it makes 367 bhp but 417lb/ft torque. The torque is immense from 3k onwards. if you dont want to change down you dont have to. just pulls. the figures are from when bob road mapped it so im not sure on rolling road figures but someone else should be able to say.

Typical figures from a full exhaust system, fuel pump, air filter and a remap are in the region of 350bhp and 390lb/ft on a 2.5L STi.

hmm, any more evidence that the power is nearer 420 than 390 lb ft for the modest 2.5 re-map?

I imagine that must genuinely feel ballistic? - I cant imagine 2nd gear acceleration being 30% stronger than my Sti PPP.. - I accept 3rd onward left room for some improvement

What is the flow rate power limit on the 2.5 with std turbo?

Cant answer the "stats" question but having driven both I prefered the effortless waftiness (not that thats a word) of the 2.5 ... just seemed so easy on the engine where as the 2ltr felt strained .... obviously it's not hence the japs all have 2ltrs... but from a subjective viewpoint only, the 2.5 seemed an easier drive with the go when it was needed but with the ability to cruise when required.

i have an 06, remapped at tsl wit the fuel pump upgrade, air filter and 3" exhaust. Mine is hitting 360 and around 400lb of torque!

I have had an 04 blob eye sti, 2.0 engine and the mapped 2.5 feels like a different beast altogether. I am not sure about percentage increases in specific gears, but the likes of tsl offer a ppp upgrade, which offers a performance upgrade and from many reports on here its very noticeable.

sounds the business. Hope to go for an 06 STi at some point.

When does the mapped 2.5 spool ? ie when do you first feel the turbo start to come in on the higher gears ?
