Default Fast oil question

Dont want this to open a can of worms or anything, about 4months ago i ask which is the best oil for my car, and alot said 10-60w millers, its just a wrx with 270bhp, which like to be driven hard at time, but no track use.

Well never had the car long enough to change the oil in it, But know i have another one same bhp and same driving, Just been ring around for some 10-60w, as i want to do an oil change tomorrow as all my parts have arrived.

But just reading on here and alot talk about 10-50w now,

So the question is would 10-60w be ok on a normal driven car, or is it mainly for track days.

If so i will just get some 10-50w so its half way

Thanks

Do you mean a classic or new age WRX.

If classic, proper fully synth 10w/50 e.g. Silkolene Pro S. Job's a good un.

Check with the experts on here (not me!) privately if you want to avoid opening the can of worms though!

I agree. 10W/50 would be ideal, but the only one I know of with that grade is the Silkolene (as mentioned by Ns04) which is expensive. There are more fully synth 10W/60s to choose from (including Millers) which can be a bit cheaper.

Either would be fine, but it's your choice. I use Millers fully syth 5w/50 in my newage which is under £30 for 5 litres, but may be too thin for a classic?

P.S. I'm not an expert either, just an enthusiatic amateur!

right, so 10-60w or 10-50w will be fine, i have found 10-60w but its castrol or mobil 1 somthing like that, but its £36 for 4L so going to have to get 2, going to pop to halfords tonight and we will see, if not it leaves me all morning to drive around everywhere else.

I think some would argue 10 60 is not optimal mate.

Silkolene Pro S is expensive, but my opinon has always been, don't compomise on oil quality; it costs 10s of pounds, a new engine thousands!

Have a word with David at Api: he builds as many Subaru engines as anyone else, so he should know!

Its a personal pref what oil to use, i use castrol sport 10-60 always, but my car is modded, so i would say either 10-50 / 10 60 , but would not go any lower.

hope this helps

It is: you just need to get the right one, as not all are fully synth IIRC.
