Afternoon all just after some advice, every now and then when sat at a standstill the revs drop then pick back up then drop then back up and so on the car drives fine but this is really bugging me any ideas what this could be
. I have unplugged the MAF while the car is on idle and it cuts out so it is not the MAF (right) not to good when it comes to car mechanics but can't think what else it could be just after some advice before I take my little baby to a garage or can I fix this myself. Help please guys and gals

Just to let you know, I have exactly the same problem, standstill the car is fine, but drive it a bit and then stop the revs drop then flick back up, MAF has been changed, idle control valve changed, cleaned TPS, changed lambda, checked for air leaks best I can but still no joy - reset the ECU loads of times after each change as well! - its a 1999 sti type R with a sensetive maf
Gonzo what year is yours ?
I am quite certain its to do with the air flow, and im gonna change ECU wit no MAF from JGM, unless there is something else i can check

mine is the same, drives and boosts perfect, just when I come to a stop, it drops then flicks back up, i cant think of anything else, to do to solve it. The fact that urs is a 2000 makes me even more certain its MAF - air flow related, cos they are really crap with their feeble MAF's, but I changed mine but its still doing the same

I've got the exact same problem on my97 sti ver3. Drives perfect but when come to a standstill revs drop then pick up, does this for about half a minute then settles. Worked on the car all day today, Checked lambda fine, maf fine, Idle control valve of my m8's car still done it with that so mines is fine, checked for leaks could not find any, no ecu fault codes either. Really bugging me too, Maybe one of us will find the problem then cure us all lol.

I had the same problem and it was the Lambda sensor.
What does it start like from cold ?
Mine struggled to start from cold and the idle was up/down all over the place.
Having a PowerFC I checked the voltage from the Lambda sensor and it was dead, fitted a Bosch LS02 universal sensor and it's perfect now. Cost me around £40

Depends if I let it warm up then settle on the normal revs she is fine until I give her some beans then the revs start dropping at standstill back to normal drop then back to normal etc. I can't really jump in a drive off straight away also if I'm in gear normally 3rd or 4th and floor it the revs jump but she doesn't pull for a split second then bang she's off.

does sound like that. with mine, when i drove the car steadily from cold, accelerating gently through the gears the car was horribly lumpy, but once warmed up, not too bad, but still hesitant. i decided to change the lambda sensor and had a genuine subaru jobby put in. expensive as from a dealer, but piece of mind. that helped a little, but after inspecting the i.c.v. it was smutten inside with all gunk. so had a second hand one fitted and clean it out every couple months with brake/clutch cleaner.

Same thing on mine but only when the air con is switched on. Has also stalled when using full lock...presumably it's somehow linked to power consumption?
