Just changed my oil and noticed it has a strong smell of petrol to it, last changed it in august and it was fine. Am i right in thinking its overfueling or is there something else wrong?

Probably over fueling and causing bore wash. This needs sorting as soon as possible.
If there is no visible black smoke while oon the move then you may have an injector weeping when the engine is switched off. Chances are you do a lot of short journeys around town.

Could be any number of explanations so don't get paniced yet...
It COULD be overfueling, or you could have done a lot of cold starts and short journeys, it can take the oil 25 minutes or more to get hot enough to evaporate off fuel, so if you only drive 20 minutes each time, you just keep building it up from each cold start.
Is your car modified, mapped in anyway?
A bit of detail means meaningful answers!

thanks for the replies, my car is a my00 standard except for stainless back box.during the week i only do about 7-8 miles each way to work through the outskirts of town so a bit of stop start driving, havent noticed a drop in fuel consumption and have never noticed the oil smelling of fuel before.

Hi, i've got this same problem. If i take the oil filler cap off with the engine running, you can smell fuel.I've only just done an oil change too.
What would cause a car to over fuel? I've done a fault read with no faults.
Also, is there any way of telling which injector may be weeping?,all plugs
looked the same when changed.
Sorry for the interuption/questions!!
