Hi All,
I'm just after a bit of advice about a company who me phoned today about my for sale ad for my WRX.
Its advertised in Autotrader and this company today that phoned is called Motor Market UK. They said they had 4 or 5 genuine buyers that wanted to see the car. If I paid them £99.50, they would put these buyers in touch and advertise it for me until the car was sold.
They offer finance too. If the person interested in the car buys it using financed money from the company, the company will then refund me £90. So in theory it could cost me £9.50.
I phoned Autotrader and they said they had never heard of anyone who had sold a car through this company. I suppose they are not guaranteeing you a sale but putting people intouch with you.
Is this just a scam to nick your 100 hard earned? Any advert is the same though, if your car doesn't sell, you don't get your money back.
Am I being too suspicious or should I steer clear?
Any responce/advice would be apprieciated.
Thanks.

Steer well clear. Every time I advertise a car on auto trader (and my mates have similar experiences) you get inundated with these phone calls!!
These companies where on watchdog last year, explaining about what a scam it is, I believe there called 'conversers'
If you think about it, why would you pay someone to tell you what cars are available on auto trader, you’d just look yourself right ???
Well that’s my opinion anyway.

When you place your add in Autotrader, tick the box that changes your phone number, this also filters these unsolicted calls. I used this, free, service twice last year and never got any of these calls!

Again...no. my only response to these people now is F**k off! I was polite until I asked one of these people exactly who they were (as alot of them just pose as someone interested in your car until you go through a lengthy discussion about the details of your vehicle) and was called a tosser for "being difficult" i suppose. They get me soo ANGRY!
Rant over.
