Default i did something very very silly !!!

About 6 months ago i was out for dinner with my boss and his wife , over a few drinks and a burger he said to me " you love your fancy cars i have something in my garage wich may be of interest to you" , at wich point he revealed there was a mint skyline R33 gts sitting at the garage and he wanted rid of it pronto .

So anyway i went home that night and took a look at it on the journey i must say it was love at 1st sight (2 cars in my hitlist whilst growing up were skyline and impreza ) annnnd to cut a longish story a little shorter i sold my impreza the next morning for minimals so i could raise the deposit for the R33 , i then proceeded to pay an extra 1.5k on top at £100 a week directly out my wages so i was happy with the skyline although it was slower than my impreza , then it came to renewal time on the insurance and when they quoted me £1600 (shopped around for ages thats the best i could get !!) i decided to rid of , luckily my friend up the road loved my skyline and owned a nice Integra type R wich he spoke to me about swapping and i checked it out we decided to straight swap aftertall ,

So anyway i owned the integra for 3 weeks before selling it on for a descent profit and went out and bought me a 46" telly a new pc new 360 new snowboard new mountain bike and a banshee race quad etc etc etc loads of toys and a honda civic (as i decided i had enough of the car game ie petrol prices insurance costs of maintaining such cars !! ) well here i am now no less than 2 months later and i really really really miss the impreza i want another one pronto and im gonna have to save for such a chariot its killing me knowing i had such a prime example (in my eyes !!)

sorry for the life story but i really had to share with you guys how much i miss and regret getting rid of my baby !!

heres a pic of each of them just to show ...

ooooooh the heartbreaker i miss it soooo sooooo much

always wanted a liner to say dissapointed would be an understatement !!

the teg only had it a few weeks loved the backroads though !

so anyways as i said im missing the impreza so let this be a warnign to others who are considering selling up for others

"DONT DO IT theres a bloody good chance you will very much regret your actions !! "

Skylines aren't quick in standard guise but then neither are most subarus.

And I wouldn't exactly call them sh!te either. Have you actually driven one?

If that's your benchmark for being quick I expect a standard GTR does 0-60 in a similar time?

I'd hardly call someone who's owned 3 different scooby's and has 2000 odd posts on scoobynet a scooby hater you muppet

Yeah sure, why not, a standard scooby isn't quick compared to an Enzo, it's not that quick when compared to most modern hot hatches either

Hmm, let's see who hasn't been able to keep up with my good old slow sti3:
Clio 172 -not even close
Civic type R - Again, not a hope in hell
New Golf GTI - Lost around 5 car lengths to me upto 70mph, then it was bye bye!
Havn't come up against the new focus st or astra vxr, but then i'd expect them to be quick in a straight line!

enzo costs hundreds of thousands and subaru costs peanuts compared to an enzo, so performance for money id stick with a subaru, i know a lot of people who have had evos, skylines, rx7's, glanzas etc and still prefer the subarus!

They will always come back!

IIRC correctly, skylines were restricted when brought into the UK to 280bhp, which, given that it's a heavy old hector, would mean that even a UK std Classic would give it a hard time, and most likely beat it to the 60mph mark etc... BUT as everyone knows, these cars are VERY tunable, 400+bhp is simple and at that point, boy do they go! Due to the weight classic Scoobies can still catch them out at lower speeds, but when rolling and at higher speeds, they fly!

I didn't say they were slow, I said they were not that quick in standard form. Classic Sti's as we all know outperform most uk variants. Is your car standard?

I had a modded newage wrx running circa 315bhp, stuggled to pull more than a couple of car lengths on a clio 182 through the gears.

A lot of people on here are blinkered in their opinions, pulling a car length or two on someone is hardly blowing their socks off is it

They ARE quick in standard form - for the average man anyway.
The don't have the advantage that they used to have as some manufacturers as you say, but would you call a golf gti mk5 'not quick'?

My car is standard apart from decat exhaust system - so maybe 310bhp, something like that.
Just because you have a 'lardy' newage, don't throw your dummy out the pram!

All cars in japan were limited to 280ps (gentlemans agreement)and 112mph.

People on here though are comparing a large GT car to a rally derived car so were built for 2 different styles of racing.

The GTRs are bloody awesome standard and tuned just like imprezas, evos etc.

They were not 'limited'. The manufacturers were just supposed to aim for that maximum power and not go over over it. GTR's often kicked out 330bhp in standard form aswell as the sti 3/4/5/6 producing 294bhp (300ps) from the factory.

Why are you comparing a classic sti to the uk variant? <genuine question>

The sti is a totally different car - not modded, and is standard kit.

You'd also have to define quick - acceleration is the only aspect. The chassis and handling also define it's quickness (the a - b speed)

And no, I don't even own a Scooby now

PMSL, it's not standard then is it !!!!!!!

I don't have a lardy newage I used to have one, also had a uk classic and an STI3 Type RA running circa 350bhp but this aint a pissing contest is it. Certainly wasn't spitting dummy out of the pram, just raising some objections to a stupid statement by a blinkered scooby owner (which wasn't even you!)

Yeah, I'm a real keyboard warrior

I've already stated that I took a slight objection to the above post.

I've been on scoobynet for probably 7-8 years now and purposely kept clear of these threads as they alwasy turn into a farce. I should've known better I suppose.

Again, I never said your car was slow, I said most scoobys in standard form aren't that quick. And yes, adding a decat and gaining maybe 30 bhp does make a car quicker. Certainly isn't standard is it !!! You seem insistent on taking my comments entirely out of context and applying them to to suit your own arguements

No, you are changing what you said.
You said standard impreza turbo's are not quick. Yes?
I beg to differ, as do many others. Get over it! What do you expect on a subaru forum ffs?

Hey, we all think the grass is greener on the other side.

At least you jump the fence, bought the cow, took her for a spin and have decided to jump back.

I'll buy your tv for the games room, cheap.

No, I said "Skylines aren't quick in standard guise but then neither are most subarus". There's a difference, again, see my comments above about taking out of context. I personally did not say your car was slow or that all scooby's are slow so you get over it

I really don't care what you think about my car, couldn't give a monkeys. All i'm trying to say is the majority of road users would find any standard impreza turbo, quick. Once you have been driving one for a while, you acclimatise to the power, hence, like yourself, people start to modify them. I don't disagree with that at all.

0-60 in 5 or so seconds IS a quick car in the grand scheme of things.
Also consider the 30-70mph time where the impreza, again standard, is very quick.

ah thats ok then, you have reached a minimum standard that allows you to slate scoobs without being thought of as a scoob hater, if you had only owned 2 scoobs and had 1800 posts or less, then that would be a different story (insert insult here) YOU..ummmm.....PLUM.

Cmon guys, the Scoob is still a quick car It was very fast 10yrs ago & is now just quick. What other cars come close (0-60, 0-100) for the same money? Probably only a small nr of cars rather than 100's. You can get STi's for £6-8k now can't you close to 300bhp as standard remember ...

If you want to "Scooby Bash" then **** off to another forum

TX.
