Default Misfire

how would you describe a misfire, as i have never had one or felt what one feels like while driving for 12 years,

but now i think i might have one but not all the time.

Hmmm - I had my CEL light go on last week. Had the ECU checked, "misfire on no 3 cylinder". It had gone off again and I couldn't detect any misfire.

It was suggested it may be that a mapped car requires hotter plugs. Any thoughts ?

Colder plugs.

Check your spark plugs. The usual suspect. Mine were overdue a change when i had the same CEL as above.

No worries Mandy.

I dunno about a classic, but on the newage it will provoke an engine management light to come on (CEL).

I can't believe you have not mentioned coil packs.

I went out last thursday night in my car and my fuel gauge was on quarter full. On route there are two shell garages (opposite each other) which I did not stop of at and just carried on. After the lessons. I got back home all fine, but this time the gauge was well and truly over the E. Today, I get in my car to go too work as usual (some 10 miles away) and when I start my car, the fuel light comes on. OK, that should be enough to get me to work and enough to get me to the nearest Shell garage in MK. No frade not. I got with in 4 miles of work when I realised I did not have as much fuel as I thought, so I when back on myself and went to the nearest fuel station. On route, my car suddenly goes incredibly lumpy and rough idle, and the exhaust popping and rattling . I gets a full tank of fuel and gives it a rev to see if I can clear the 'blockage'...err No. I limps to work and I ask one of the mechanics to take a look and he said he would. But come the end of the day, he did not. So I limp home hoping I have not done any serious damage to the engine. Takes it into my local Subaru garage Souls of Olney and they hook it up to their computer and he had a look and he worked out that cylinder 1 was miss firing...the coil pack was not working on 1.

Misfiring on mine at idle its rough the exhaust is banging and there is a lot more pops and bangs plus a loss of power.
