The Spec C is a JDM(Japanese) only car and doesn't have PPP. Standard, it puts out about 300-310bhp when properly mapped. The two cars are completely different in their appeal tbh, are you sure you know what a Spec C is?

This is the description
2007 SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 WRX STi Prodrive 4dr Saloon
Manual, 4,500 miles, WRX STI Spec-C V-Ltd, 8 months old, 6 speed, Rally Blue, Ltd Team Auri Edition, Roof scoop, Privicy glass, Active diffs, Water spray, Brembo brakes, Twin scroll turbo, 18" OZ Ultra Lagera's
Would this be much different to a 2.5?
Also, if you says its Japanese, will that be an issue with insurance?(Import?)
Also, is it worth £18000
Thanks

Without going into detail, one (the Spec C) is the ultimate off the shelf Scooby track weapon but the 2.5 makes a good road car though. Both pull well from low revs, the Spec C because of it's twin scroll turbo, the STi because of it's 2.5 lump.

Your descriptions are still confusing. Are the 2007 sti 2.0 prodrive and the spec c v ltd one and the same thing here?? You seem to be describing 2 different 2 ltr models then bringing the 2.5 in as a 3rd. Might be better if you posted the link. 'Impreza' is not the easiest language to translate

Thanks for your help. I wanted a 2.5 Sti Prodrive, but they dont come up often near me, so thats why I was asking about this one.

ok, that looks like a spec c and as I believe earlier poster said is the ultimate impreza out of the box for thrill seakers. Some can find it hard to live with interms of noise, suspension.......just depends what you are after. I've never driven one

The 2.5 will be a euro model (uk/eu) and will be more comfy (relatively speaking). You could prob equal the spec c straight line performance by re-mapping (would need more than ppp).
In summary if you want a track car the spec c is the one. If you want a fun road car the spec c is the one. If you want a family cruiser go for a re-mapped or pppd 2.5 sti.
I have 2.0 sti ppp and find it has pretty decent performance, reasonable comfort levels.
BTW would think 18k for that spec c is very good value. Judging from what i've seen in other very recent threads (take a look at the new thread by alexppp), the insurance is not too bad - certainly try a-plan, keith michaels.

Thanks. I am 25 with no years NCB (always been named driver), so I will have to get my 25 year fiance to insure it in her name, and add me as a named driver. She has 5 years full no claims, but when she asked her insurance company (although they couldnt bring the exact model up) it was £4500! Ridiculous! We are in NI which also puts the premiums up and lowers the choice!

IMHO, from the ad it looks pretty much like a Spec C, however at the price I would be very sceptical. I have recently bought a Spec C (view my scooby) which is a 55 plate MY06 which cost significantly more than this one. Also it has discreet 'Spec C' badges under the side repeaters and STi badge on boot lid, and seats are all black rather than blue/black.
I upgraded from a UK MY02 STi with PPP and the Spec C is a very different beast, no exhaust burble due to equal length headers and more noise due to lighter body panels and less sound proofing (3" exhaust also helps!!), but I certainly haven't regretted it.
Insurance through Keith Michaels, not much more than old UK STi, approx £700.. (35 yrs, full no claims, plus wife 32 yrs).
Hope this helps at all....

£18k for an 8 month old Spec C ... not a chance
It's either not a Spec C or it's a scam!
TX.
Edit - stripped out boot & boot water tank suggests a Spec C, yet there are no Spec C badges

Well they've gone to extreme lengths if they have. Stripped out the boot, fitted 12 litre water tank and strut brace to the boot floor (which is not a straight forward thing to do if the car is not a Spec C), fitted a roof vent, fitted the titanium front strut brace and the JDM spec intercooler.

The thing is with a Spec C is that you have to be able to live with it, not alot of people can (and that one is very cheap for some reason!
) because you dont have any soundproofing, so if you like hearing stones bouncing off the underside of your car, then go for it, though saying that, insurance may be a little bit of a problem at 25 on one of these cars, also take into consideration that they need more servicing that the 2.5ltr cars (jap servicing is still down at 6k miles/6 monthly intervals and not the 10k miles/12 monthly intervals on the UK cars).
I owned a Spec C for over 3 years (over 7 years of scoob ownership to date
) until I sold her in march due to getting a new job and didnt know how much id end up with (now regrets selling said car
) BUT the word of warning is (and I drive lot) that the spec c will tire you out more than a standard STi, and it takes a bit more concentration to drive over a standard STi because of this.
Best thing to do is go to litchfields or the likes and drive a twin scroll car, then go to a dealer and drive a 2.5ltr car, though id say the 2.5ltr may be the better overall car for daily use (though I use to drive series 3 landrovers so anything is comfy after those
)

Spot on Tony. As much as I love my Spec C some days I am glad to get out of it. Having said that though I do not regret my choice. I love the raw nature of the car. It is THE closest thing you will get to a rally car on the road.
