My cambelt tensioner recently packed in just waiting till tomorrow to see if there is any more damage.
My question is, how much would a rebuild for a standard wrx bugeye cost and one for a slightly modded engine to handle more bhp cost?
I may not need to go down this road but I want a rough idea as Im getting worried and want to know what to do if the worse should happen!

My advice would be to not necessarily go for the cheapest quote: take it somewhere that will give you a quote for a job that will last and mean that you pay once. Simply not worth saving even a grand, if 6 months later the engine goes pop and you have to fork out again.
May be worth speaking to David at APi. They have a superb reputation for rebuilding Subaru engines and have done as many as most, if not all, of the other specialists.

I'm afraid it will be dear mate. 1.5k probably the cheapest you'll get.

I agree. It all depends how much you do yourself and how much you pay others don't forget to add bits and bobs cluch, oils hoses water pump timing belt pulleys etc they will all add up say £500
There are companies that do a "Fixed" price repair say £1500 standard build but as said you only get what you pay for. but he went for the £2000 with uprated Crank and Oil pump. He removed engine and took it up there brought it back and refitted it.
if he had paid someone to do all that, that could add £1000 to the bill .
so not much change from £2.5-3 k cheapest up to £100K, depending on spec

Where did you go for your rebuild mate? Im in manchester just weighing up my options.
Im hoping I may still be able to go down the warranty route from where I purchased the car from ( it was 2 & half months ago), they said it comes with a 3 month warranty...
