Default WOOHOOO!! one stage 1 remap later...

Just taken the car out for its first hard drive after getting it remapped today.

What a massive difference

Its more responsive, more torquey(if there is such a word), it boosts earlier and is generally a much better drive allround.

Big for mark at GT MOTORSPORT who did me the remap.

Best money ive spent on a car so far.

Just gonna increase my overdraft to pay for my petrol consumption now .

Gav.

yeah, thats the one. Mark has worked on cossies and turbos for the most part but he also knows his stuff when it comes to jap motors. He worked on my old wrx before i got the bugeye.

I'm not gonna bang on about the price he charges as people seem to want to rip him to pieces cos he charges less than a lot of the bigger tuners. Needless to say its not the 5 or 600 quid that most are asking.

I've got some good gains from my remap and the car feels loads quicker/better.

Oh oh! I can see where this is going. I'm sure the respected tuners will be on here soon saying that you've bought a cr*p map.

So is the car completely standard and if so what gains do you reckon have been achieved just by re-mapping?

No doubt chris.

The mentality seems to be that if you havent paid a fortune for it ,its no good.

Sadly this is the mentality that helps keep the market in tuning performance cars so massively inflated when it comes to the cost.

Perhaps if a few of the lower priced ,equally as capable tuners were to be given a bit more recognition it would be easier to get the prices that we are asked to pay for modding our cars reduced.

completely standard. i have got approx 20-25 bhp out of the remap alone.

next job is to get a decat exhaust.

few more hours overtime needed yet though.

would the map not have been better done after physical mods ?

yeah i know...a little back to front.

the plan wasnt to get an exhaust at all as i was relatively happy with the standard one....however as most of us are only to painfully aware ,once youve started its a slippery slope to bankruptcy

i'll get the remap tweaked once i've got the new exhaust on. Thats not going to be until the summer now anyway, so i'll just enjoy the extra gains i've got for now.

I'm not defending anyone with this (Hell, I would love the price to be lower) but isn't the main portion of a first ECUTEK map the licence fee which I am guessing is in the region of £400 (Note: Guessing) that has to be bought by the mapper?

I don't know what map you had Gav, but would be interested to know if there is a licence fee involved with it and if subsequent maps are cheaper (as usually is the case with ECUTEK)

Prob using ECUFlash and Enginuity Software.
No licence fee required.

just up the road from tunstall, not going to say exactly where as you dont know whos trawling these sights looking for a nice scooby to nick .

I'm always around stoke, mainly burslem, hanley , tunstall end.

Always give a quick nod/wave to other scoobiers but most dont acknowledge it nowadays.

i'll keep my eyes peeld for ya.

Yeah exactly the same part of the city as me, usually about in a black astra coupe or going to/from work in a pmf van! Scoob tends to live in the garage till weekends.

So anyways, must ring GT motorsport...
