Why is it so violent in 1st gear full chat/full boost changing from 1st to 2nd ?

other turbo cars seem so gentle and progressive, not mine.

take the lads out at lunch,give her some beans as they like and all you see is there heads get whiplash,mine as well, slowly pull off then give it some and its neck snappin time into 2nd then all is well

its like, normal power upto 4-5k then whallop,boost kicks in and were nodding dogs

standard WRX engine,dump valve with a hks exhaust

what would scooby do

Turbo lag and power coming in all at once. I like it although it's a bit like a hit of cheap whisky.

ha ha ha glad its not just my car then.
i dont mind it so much, but when you have 3 other guys going, mmm, dont like that.thats not right, my RS aint like that etc etc it starts to make you feel nobbish givin it some beans with them in the car,they can like it or lump it ha ha

Think there's something wrong if your boosts kicking in at 4000-5000 rpm

yeah,it kicks in earlier but you dont get the final whoosh until 5k+ thats when im hitting 0.9 bar

A lot of modern turbo charged engines will limit boost ( to limit torque) in the first couple of gears.

If the classics do that, it certainly doesn't feel like it!!

The classics certainly don't limit power in the lower gears

Big lunge of power when the crude old turbo kicks in and not so much weight for it to shift. That's the killer for most new cars (and newage Imprezas) they are all lard arsed, which kills performance outright.

Its all good, just had my 04 sti mapped with its mods and J_E_S_U_S christ boot it in 2nd and its like hyperspace, back end gets all crazy even in the dry but it starts from around 2700 rpm and goes all the way now. mind you it has cost me ££££s, but like i said its all GOOD.

Don't even bother using first. It was too violent when standard, don't want to know what it's like now. 2nd gear is cling on for dear life.

My old H reg celica GT4 was smoother on boost almost like a n/a......I test drove a scooby and **** me! the rest is history

Oh, it happens in other gears too (assuming that pesky drive by mode doesn't make an appearence ), it's just that first is the most spectacular! Mine doesn't quite have the peak bhp and torque of yours, but it's eaten less pies!
