go find an MOT station that knows what it is doing then as the one you have been to see to be muppets who cant read!

The noise test is subjective - it is up to the tester to decide if in his/her opinion the exhaust is too loud. As for the emissions do a search on here, someone posted the MOT emmissions flowchart some time in the past which explains it all

In summary - find and MOT tester that can A)- read the manual B)- is slightly deaf

It does not need a cat at all, imports pre Aug 95 are excempt from the cat test, so tell the muppet to call VOSA himself, he can however fail a car for being excessively loud (in his opinion), so probably best to find a more understanding station.

Supercar rules for type approval only get you a decibel or so over normal rules. What that means for an MOT though, I dunno.

If it's going to be an issue, get an Apexi ATS or similar or a bung. Fit it when MOTing and remove it later if that's your thing.

Super cars like Zondas have valves in the exhast which open up when required to give noise, same goes for ferraris etc.

Go back to the MOT Test Station and ask to see what it says in their emissions standards book. I've been doing some searches, it appears that during 1995 it because mandatory to have a catalyst fitted. However from 1993, cars had to pass a stricter emissions test. A '94 car doesn't need a cat provided your car still passes the post '93 emissions standards.

As for a noise test, if you're a member of a motor club (or if you join one) then they usually have to run noise tests for any rallies/hill climbs/sprints they will know how to access such kit.
