Default Info on Hawkeye STI

Looking for some info on a Hawkeye. STI. I'm currently trying to sweet talk the misus into letting me buy one.

First.. i dont want to be getting one with the £400 tax bracket as that will be the battle lost with the wife... Which ones are under the usual £205ish

Second i have seen some 2.0 versions as well as the 2.5.. whats the story here? which is best?

Lastly i am really undecided by the colour... stunning white or that lovely grey? Please vote above.

I am I right in assuming pre 06 plate cars are £200ish road tax (F?), 06 and onwards are in the highest bracket (G?)?

Just been on the DVLA site it says..

Band G - Over 225 CO2 (g/km) – for cars registered on or after 23/03/06 = £300 or £165 (12/6mths)

So am i looking for a 55 plate.. when did 06 plates come out?

There really aren't many knocking about that don't fall into band G due to their only really being 23 days on the 06 plate that you can buy. There are a couple of 55 plates knocking about but again I haven't seen many. Perhaps you would be better off looking for a blobeye?

Oh and grey as we live in the UK and white doesn't stay white too long... but then I am biased.

That is out of what i'm willing to spend. I'm looking at a max of 17k

I'm not very keen on the mods or the price.. sorry if its your car i'm not trying to offend.

Thanks.

just had a look at your car... i am really liking that.

how does it handle without the big spoliers?

Would i pay the same for a spec "d" as i would for a spec "in your face"?

Thanks. Handles the same mate. Let's face it, unless you are in the WRC the spoilers are just a styling gimmick. In fact it handles better as I have changed the springs too since removing the prodrive spoiler that came with it.

New the Spec D is more expensive, but they are a bit of an oddity as far as scoobs go so you can pick them up cheap second hand. Think you'd be looking between £16k-£17k for a good example. They are MY06 only but a fair few are also on 07 plates.

oh oh oh... i just found a white one registered on the 15th march.. It has 36k with 1 owner and its priced at £16,990

Millage is maybe a tad high for the price, considering i can get a spec d for over a grand less and only 12k miles. That grand could go along way... Mr Forrest!!!..

I know the wife would be happier with the more discrete model (she thinks I should grow up and get a vectra.. lol that's never going to happen)

Do they loose the blue interior.?

It's a wolf in sheeps clothing, so you still have one hell of a quick car you can have fun in but don't attract every idiot on the road like you do with the big spoilers... which is ideal when you have the wife and kids in the back and want to use it as a saloon.

They do, they have black leather.

Well.... all i can say is please stay away from an EVO. Its just not worth the extra money in service and the fuel cost is out of this world.!
