Default BEST PLACE TO SERVICE CAR?

Howdy,

After a little bit of advice please:

06 2.5l STI type UK PPP.
Due its 20k service and wondered if anyone had any comments on best place to get it serviced. Not really keen on "normal" dealer doing it.

Live in Lincs so I know I'll need to drive a fair distance to get to a "specialist".

Thx

Same as the 10k I think, change engine oil, inspect various bits and bobs, but they also change the brake fluid?

Depending on whether you're North or South Lincs, you may want to look at Tracktive in Melton Mowbray.

The 20k service is a 2 hour job, so labour their labour rate of £45/hr will save you a few quid over the main dealers as well as possibly getting a bet job done.

Interesting reply Sub and good point, which is one of the reasons I'm asking. Oh and thx .

That's one of the reasons I'm asking I heard Scoobyclinic mentioned a lot on here, any comments anyone?

What's anyone elses opinion on the main dealer or not main dealer service history?

Cheers

Ron

Scoobyclinic

Really know their stuff, you'll get a friendly welcome and a guided tour. Well worth the journey IMHO, although we only live half an hour away.

I would much rather buy a car which was serviced by a "Specialist", than some money making stealers.

If you compare the two, there is no comparision IMO. I`m sure most people on here will agree with me.

I totally agree. Servicing at dealers is often carried out by apprentices...and lets face it, alot of mechanics that work at dealers arent really bothered about your car...its just a job! Whereas specialists are often enthusiastic about things and take an interest in the car.

Specialist hands down

Thx all - specialist it is then.....

Like I said never been keen on dealers - IMHO they just do the absolute minimum and take the cash . Looks like you guys confirmed my suspicions

I take mine to Carnetix at Melton Mowbray. They share the same building as Tracktive. Becky and Glen worked for TSL until they split a couple of years ago. I would not take mine anywhere else. A refreshing no bullsh1t attitude and more than happy to chat all day long about your car.

I totally agree with what TerzoAlan says, I'd rather see a well known specialist in the service book than a dealers stamp anyday.

If you chose Carnetix you won't be disappointed.

Wolfie.

Personally if it's not modified (other than the PPP) I'd look for a main dealer history if I was buying second hand.

That also removes any arguments about warranty claims and whether something was done correctly or not IMHO...

I travel from Bristol to TSL in Nottingham to get work done rather than use Tileys of Bristol (Subaru main dealer that seems to specialise in Isuzus for farmers).

Nuff said.

Stick with main dealer to keep your warranty.

Lol thats funny I have been to TSL a few times but for servicing I use Tileys for warranty reasons, they do take the pi55 though with their pricing.
Mine is due a 1 year service in March so I expect i'll have the washer fluid drama again.

Default Been

To dealers(chesterfield) never again
Been to scoobyclinic they run from a farm shed an didnt like 'service' so not for me.
TSL had loads of work done but prices and sometimes attitude put me off.
Now go to Carnetix in Melton Mowbary, nice set up,warm atmosphere, knowledgeable, and the prices

These are all my own opinion before anyone starts with the flaming

warrenty is intact as long as you get a service stamp anyway, they can no longer refuse any warrenty issues is service kept up to date.

its been brought in to stop companys forcing customers to use there service department when they buy a car

Very true, but just to add that you MUST use genuine Subaru parts or else it will "Void" your warrenty
