Wings West style scooby!
#1
Yesterday i was offered a chance to have a full jap style body kit fitted to my scoob. At first it seemed great but im now worried if it will look cheesy, may sound strange but ive never seen one like this apart from on the cover of this months max power, which i am still undesided on. What dya reckon, will this ruin a top car or make a beast. By the way i cant see pictures off a finished car because mine is going to be the donor/test vehicle. Also a magazine feature has been pencilled in if i decide to go ahead. HELP PLEASE.

If you want to get it done, get it done!
What we think doesn't really count! Yeah, it is nice for lots of people to say oooooh we love it, but at the end of the day you are never going to please everyone are you???
I say, if you have the money and do like the kit, go for it! You can always return it to standard can't you?
Cheers,
Michelle.

Do you not think its a bit expensive to do something and then change it back to normal Chelle? I was asking opinions cos i cant see the car till its finished, by which time i will have paid for it. Yes its a lot cheaper than it should be but thats not the point, i dont have money to burn.

In that case, I guess you either like the kit or not.
Just ask yourself how much more you would regret not putting it on the car than if you would.
Fair enough the majority of us haven't got money to burn. IF I was asked the same question I would say no as I do not have the cash to spare.
If I did have enough however, I would go for it - as long as it wasn't waaaaaay over the top LOL.
Trouble is I have no idea what the kit looks like so I can't really give you my honest opinion.

You seen what the finished item looks like though??
If it looks decent i'd get it there are too many similer imprezas on the road imho the majority only differ in wheels or odd spoiler.
Get it and stand out from the crowd.

Sod paying for it if yours is the donor car - you should be given it as a freebie outright. Thats what K&N do, or any of the exhaust manufacturers.
Have a look at it and if you like it, do it.

why ask people's opinions?? I dont mean to be rude but cant you form your own?? If you want it and they say it'll look ****, what will you do?? Conversely if they say do it, will you?? I dont know why people worry about other peoples reactions this much...

Basically i have no idea what it will look like and i was hoping someone might have a better idea. All i know is it is jap styled close to a wings west kit. The only thing theyve told me is i might have to loose the front fogs, which is a real bummer.

Dream Weaver, a kn filter cost under a tenner to make, i know this because i have done work for them in the past. This kit will retail around £1200 fitted, this is less than half just over a third and it will go through the business so i can claim the vat back etc. The price is what it cost to make without labour, if i dont take it up then someone else will. Its just how its going to look that worries me.

We'll you are asking for opinions so I'll give you mine (you asked for it )
Will it make your car :-
Lap Faster (No)
Handle Better (No)
Make you a safer / better / faster driver (No)
De-value like a Nova with a whale tale (Yes)
More expensive to insure (Yes)
Laughed at by anyone over 16 who doesn't read Lacks Power (Yes)
Lets face facts. Any styling mods are too massage your ego when your parked up outside the local chippy.
You could spend £1200 on :-
2 x Wetter the better courses
6 x Track Days
12 x Airfield Days
5 x Drive a Ferrari / Race car blah de blah
1 x Years driving in the 750MC Clubman races
1 x Years Hill Climbing Sprinting
Non of these would Impress Sharon and Trace outside McDonalds though

Who are ya getting the kit from? Is it West Wings, or someone
who supplies the kit. If it is WW, no harm in asking for a freebie,
like DW said, tell them you'll do a few shows, vauxhall/ford/trax!
GReddy and HKS do this all the time on the tuning scene, no reason why a bodykit specialist like WW shouldn't!
It'll get them publicity, or try to get it at a discount price etc.
I've seen various WW kits, but none for the scoob, and as they are pretty radical, I'm a bit unsure what it would look like. (I can feel a search comin' on) £1200 is a lot as well for a kit, have you got a decent set of 18's to go with it etc, as these are another £1200! If ya do have the kit fitted, get some pics on, should be interesting
