I have never managed to reach the elusive 300 miles. Any time I think I am about to do it the last bit of the tank disappears very quickly. Don't think the guage is very linear. Normally from brim full to warning light I get 230-280ish. I think this is around 50 litres (of normal unleaded in my case) UK MY00.

You lucky barstewards!! Either I have a tank from an Evo or I am just driving too hard, I would be lucky to get 180 miles from a tank in my 98 5 door. On a track day in Mondello Park last year I managed a fantastic 45 miles from a tank.

Must check for holes.

Have got sub 200 when pushing hard but since running on Optimax I have had 350 miles on a tankfull doing 80 to 100 on the motorway. That's using about 56 litres by my reckoning. NB mines a twin turbo legacy B4 (WRX engined). Reckon the better aerodynamics on my saloon must make the difference. I will hopefully be putting some Brocquet in the tank soon and will expect to get another improvement in economy and more power. (Nb I dont watch the fuel consumption - "we didn't buy a Subaru for its economy Right!" - but on motorway journeys you sometimes find yourself unable to do anything but sit at 80 for hours at a time.

Personal Best - 392
Worst - 220
Average - 340

I've heard of people getting over 400, but I drove like an old woman to get 392 so God knows just how slow they were going

Had over 300 a couple of times when hacking out the miles on the motorway.

Usually get 200 to 230 around town on UL or Optimax.

Worst was 1/2 a tank in 60 miles on the Tour d'Ecosse

Cool

Grantr,

How do you get 350miles form your tank?? I can any only get 300 to 320 max before the warning light goes on and this is driving like a real fairy - no fun at all. If I have any fun at all this can easily go down to 20mpg. The worst was 12mpg on at autoban (a tank lasted 45mins) average speed + 140mph! I gave up when the desiel Passat's I passed were overtaking me again during a re-fuel. Good fun though!

Cheers

Pah! Worst I've managed is 60 miles on 2/3 tank of fuel, but that was a track day Best I've managed is 330 miles before the light came on. Filled up at 349 [MY00 PPP] That was just A-road and motorway cruising on a few long trips.

When we had the fuel crisis last year, some people were getting over 30mpg from their cars

Cheers

Recently had to do a 140 mile round trip on the M25 each day for 2 weeks.

Going there during rush hour (Slow) and returning late at night (Not so Slow!). On average I was getting 240 miles on a 50 litre tank of Optimax from a P1.

Cheers

I've got 270 out of my MY97 doing "fast" motorway miles.

As Jan seems to be longest ever month I've been keen to space out my visits to the petrol station this month. I was doing well with 267m (urban driving as well!) but without a warning light and the needle bing very very close to the E, I bottled it and filled up.
Only to discover I could only put 50.2 litres in! I could have maybe got to the fabled 300m mark!

Max: 344 (Wow) all motorway miles @79mph. Never got near that since.
Average: 281.3333 mostly M'way miles
Min: 96 very quick miles!

Most miles after warning light: 45 (splttrd a bit) - needle about 2 thicknesses below the E.

Most = about 289m
Least = about 140m
Average = about 220m

95 WRX with a 50l tank, which I got 52 litres in to the other day

What speed do people find the most efficient in 5th? I guessed it would be like 50-60mph and used to take it well easy on the to work and back but a few people in the past have suggested more efficiency at 70-80mph? I would be very interested to know please.
