Adrenaline Motorsport/Enginetuner test day at Llandow
We went off to Llandow yesterday, testing the new Murtaya rally car. It's using a group N engine and drive train from a donor Scooby, with its restricted TD05 turbo.
Currently set up for gravel, the very soft suspension gave plenty of body roll, but still displayed amazing grip and balance. Once I got used to just bouncing it over every kerb going, with no ill effect whatsoever, I could use all the grip for very tight turn ins through the slower stuff, with just a bit of a flick on the faster corners to set the back end up. Only one corner had you in the wrong gear whatever, when I just let the car drift out to miss the cones, partly off the track, but setting you up nicely for the sweep down the back straight. The day started out wet, but gradually dried, so we had chance to try a couple of different tyre combinations.
Martyn had a trip in the left seat with the laptop, data logging with the SimTek ECU, so we'll have another look at that on Monday.
The day was well supported with enough interested parties getting hot laps in the Murtaya to keep the car well warmed!
