MY93 wrx import coolant level....
Hi all,new to the place and looks good, just bought the missis a 93 wrx import, took it for a cambelt change and the thermostat jammed and she got a little hot, took stat out till i get a new one hopefully this week but while this has happened it has showed then temp gauge doesnt work properly. Heats up to midway on gauge within 5 mins of startup no matter what and stays there, any ideas?? with stat out in this weather the heaters dont get warm so gauge isnt right, also how much coolant should be in header tank?? ie max. Hoping it hasnt done a head gasket as it isnt mixing just want to make sure it isnt loosing water so want to make sure level is correct and use it to see how it goes.
finally is thermostat a dealer part or can you get from motor factors (and are they reliable to use mf ones?)
Thanks all and im off for a mooch

stats can be had from decent motor factors. If they have trouble as its an import, just tell them its the same as a uk turbo.
Could very well be a waterpump issue that you have got, I got rid of my scoob just before christmas but it was the same age and I had to change the water pump (did belt change at same time), its a shame you have just had the belt done as changing the water pump is a belt of job and would add about 10 mins to the cam belt change!
Also the radiator end caps are plastic and these have a habit of slipping so you can be losing coolant whilst driving without you actually knowing.
If you are in blackpool then there is a company nearby called scoobytechnix think they are in fleetwood as the name suggests they are scoob specialists
