Default Are my gauges working correctly.?

finally finished fitting them but not sure if there right or no. this is what happens.

On starting the oil pressure goes to 6.0 and drops to about 2.0 when idling, but whilst driving it goes up and down depending on how much welly your giving it.

The oil temp seems to be working fine

The boost gauge sits on 0 when ignition is on and then drops to -0.6 when started, if you blip the throttle it jumps to 0 but then goes down again. When on full chat it will climb to about 1 - 1.3 but no further.

so does this seem ok. its the boost and oil pressure im concerned over.

when warmed up the oil pressure should go up/down with the revs. I am sure someone will tell you the max and min pressures.

Seem fine to me mate.
If you ever disconnected the boost gauge from the piping you'd find it would be sucking/ creating a vacuum so will naturally pull the needle down. The gauge should never be sat on 0 when you start the car.

Sounds like everything is fine there.

Now do a test when starting from cold tomorrow to see how many miles it takes to get the engine oil upto temp. Quite a while.

Mine roughly read:

- oil pressure is about 6.0-7.0 and 2.5-ish idle.
- oil temp 85-90, good run, no more than 97-100.
- boost 1.63-1.65 (but then it should do that)
- fuel pressure 3.0 and goes off clock IIRC when booting.

Look about right for something like a new-age STI - you don't say what car.

Oil pressure: 6 bar when cold, dropping to 2 bar when idling hot, and 6 bar when giving it some when hot.

Boost is -0.6 idling, -0.8 if you take your foot off the gas when moving. Normal cruise at about 70mph will be about -0.2 bar. Foot down hard and quick and you'll momentarily exceed the normal max boost - by STI used to peak at 1.3 bar before the mods, and then drop to 1.1 bar.

Note however, that Defi boost gauges tend to over-read by about 0.1 bar, in the positive range at least.

Oil Pressure on my car is as most have quoted 6.0 Bar when warm 7.0 Bar when cold during norml driving and 2.5 on tickover.
Temp around 90 during normal cruising, up to 100-102 when giving it a bit.

Mine is pretty much identicall to this gaz so it must be right, though the boost max's out at a shade over 1.5 (standard vf35 with bob r tweak). would love a play in a car that pulls to 2.0 what fun that must be.
The oil temp gets to about 70-90 after about 10mins way after the water temp is upto temp, very supprising isnt it.
