Get new STI typeuk on March 1st

Trading in 2005 stippp and the new car in comparison the new STI is really bloody good!!!

Looks way better in the flesh than in the pictures although standard UK spec is a little bland and there is no "top spec" option as many people think. I am getting a dark grey with 18" alloys , window tints, fogs and front splitter. It looks practically the same as JDM car but definately cost more - my dealer relationship is however worth a little more to me.

The new car is different to drive - softer ride but still a fun car to drive ... very different to the new wrx which did feel too soft in my opinion. Quieter and it didnt sound like the dashboard was going to fall to bits at any point. Interior is miles ahead of old car.

It is fast too!!

I agree its very different previous imprezas but a disaster it is not. I can remember when i bought my first bug eye.... that too was controversial and this car is 10 times better looking than that.

As much as I like it, it's statements like this that worry me about the new Impreza. I know that Subaru is now trying to go more 'mainstream' and appeal to the mass market but surely when buying a car that is based on a rally model the whole emphasis should be on recreating that sensation, not diluting it.

Clearly I am part of the enthusiast minority, but if I want speed AND refinement, then I wouldn't be looking at buying an Impreza in the first place, I would be looking more towards an RS Audi, M BMW or an AMG Merc.

Hopefully Subaru will not disappoint and release a Spec C soon.

Whats it costing you to trade in the 05 STI and how many miles on the 05 car?

Appreciate if you don't want to answer.

Performance wise, whats it really like compared to the PPP STI.

Couldn't of put it better myself. I feel as tho the whole Japanse market is following the German trend and moving away from there traditional raw jap missile approach.

Cant say 100% on performance shaun as only had 20 miles on clock and I didnt really want to thrash it however: this was my first drive in a 2.5 litre impreza and it definately pulled better than my current car low down in 6th . I think the 2.5 litre may also have different character anyway but she did feel like I am still going to get a smile on my face when I do thrash her - ie. I was worried it would feel significantly slower than current car but Inow I dont think this is an issue. It would also have creamed my car on the twisties - gocart analogy! but my car has had 3 new sets of shocks before and is a little tired!

My car has 39000 on clock but is pretty beat up as it does a lot of work on rough roads, I got 14000 on trade in , Book price was 11200 to 13500. I was happy enough with that.

I agree too !But its still appealing for the 35 year old guy who has to keep his wife and kids happy. Still more entertaining than s3 or BMW 130 I think.

I think you got a good solid deal there. Not spectacular, but as good as you could expect for a brand new model. I bet it will be nicer to live with day to day as well. Enjoy and get some pics up.
