VXR Day
Just signed up to the VXR driving day at Rockingham in June (26th pm session).
Anyone else signed up for this and did anyone else go last year?
If you did have you any advice to get the most for the day?
Thanks
Mike

I went last year to brands hatch it was a great day… they did a autocross type thing for the 1st half of the day and then a the track activity 2nd half. I loved the autocross came 2nd just got beat by a bloke who later told me he did it in his kit car as a hobby a few years back …. All I needed to say was a drive a Subaru (we all think we are rally drivers don’t we)…..
No real tips apart from have a good day and smile on the 1st lap as they take your photo on the way out of the pits ….. I looked like a *** on my one …
It’s a great way to realise how much fun and speed a Subaru offers…. Even that oz V8 thing felt slow to me and I really enjoyed the drive home ..

O actually I do have a tip…. Keep away from a blond haired female instructor she told me off a few times and then on my hot lap in a Astra vxr I went for a full BTCC style attack of paddock hill bend when she told me to come off the gas I kind of went flat and took about 1 metre of curb, I think the touring cars have slightly better suspension …. Had to be done tho but she did go a little mad and explained if I do that again I am out of there…..
Oddly the best car for having fun was the two people carriers as they drift a little in the bends and as they are a little slow down the straights’ so you don’t get held up in traffic waiting for the instructor to tell you to go past…. A Holden had to move over for me that must have been very embracing seeing a people carrier sliding up the inside

Sounds like it will be a good day out then! I have just bought a 182 so i'm keen to see how it compares to the Corsa VXR. The VXR8 sounds good too.
I have never been on a track day so i'm really looking forward to it.
Is there much sales patter to put up with?

Yep it was my 1st track day experience good way to get a feel for it without the risk of your own baby.
The VXR8 was very disappointing but brands does not have many straights so it just felt big and heavy. Also we are a little spoilt with high power Scooby’s. And to be honest the sales patter was not much of an issue the guys all work for the track day companies one of the guys did some work for Prodrive so we talked about Scooby’s…… I found that the corsa was a week mix not that sporty…
Interested to read your feedback after you do it
