What would you do??
Sorry Mods...have also posted this in the correct wheel and tyre forum...but need a response as soon as possible...need to organise tyres tom if possible...thanks
Hi all......
Having recently found out that the tyres on my sti track project are competition use only I now have to change them to make the car legal to test on the roads....unfortunate as the grip was something to behold...anyway....
money being tight and all that..I have two options
1) Fit a set of Toyo t1-R...or GS-D3's which are both good ROAD tyres.....
2) Fit a budget road legal TRACK tyre Hankook etc.....
My questions are....
Which would provide the better grip on the odd road test and track day....
Does the compound in the track tyre make it generally last longer or shorter than a performance road tyre....
Which would you choose........
Road mileage very limited to be honest...these will go on a fully stripped, caged, fast, STi RA......
Any advice my friends...
thanks very much

Be carefull of anything to sticky as you may damage the gearbox, many friends who trackday have tried a soft copound slick and shattered their gearboxes,
I would go for a medium cut slick(which are road legal) but you will need to get enough heat into them to make a difference,
you could try the toyo 888's alot of the mitsubishi buys use them and say tis a happy medium,
