Default STI panel filter

Hi all
Booked my car in for a service today at a Subaru garage. Asked them if they could replace my STI panel filter during the service and they said they'd never heard on such a thing?

Anyone else find this odd

The UK dealers don't use them and the warranty holders (IM) don't approve or authorize their use. Japanese aftermarket part only. On a separate note, in testing they came out worst for flow and filtration in Scoobymag, faired similarly in private tests by Harvey Smith and are a bit of a con when a lifetime part which performs better from Green, K&N, and others is the same price or cheaper.

If we're talking 'sense' then the OE paper item performs amongst the best
