I've listed the new VED bands coming into effect from 2009:
201-225 g/km of CO2: 300 GBP
226-255 g/km of CO2: 415 GBP
256+: 440 GBP

my child is fine, and my mother's house is constantly warm
we are paying for immigrant's/single moms with 4 differant farthered kid's/war's over oil so the fat greddy yanks can purchase it for about a quid per gallon and to house criminals who commit murder, whereas they should be given a lethal injection(or the humane killer used by slaughter houses, much cheaper)but sit in there cell's lapping it up on there ps3's and widescreen tv's
p.s would i be right in thinking that the newage sti fall's 1 point over the £415 threshold (257)

Why would a 'green' tax or 'road' tax have anything to do with child poverty or keeping the elderly warm? Other taxes we pay go towards that. Either this money should go towards the environment if it's a green tax, or the roads and transport if it's a road tax. Only my opinion.

Thats better news for Classic owners (pre March 2001) and BAD news for the rest of us next year .
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't older cars more polluting . So I'll pay £440 next year and my mate with a 500bhp RX-7 will pay £185 . I just don't get it .

Top bracket cars that were registered before 23 April 2006 = £210.
Top bracket cars that were registered after 23 April 2006 = £400.
Look out next year though with the new car tax groups . I bet the government wish they could change the council tax brackets like they are doing to the car tax brackets next year.

And how did you manage to get one! Thought you could only get one if you have a Euro 4 car which is 2003MY for Scoobies IIRC!

The environmental signals provided by VED will help deliver reductions in CO2 emissions. The numbers of vehicles in the lowest CO2 emission graduated VED bands are forecast to grow significantly in the longer term in part due to VED reform.
Time to by an old 'Tax exempt' carb'd V8, Jensen Interceptor anyone
