decat downpipe noise question

Default decat downpipe noise question

im having a decat downpipe fitted tomorrow and im just wondering if it will make a difference to the sound of the exhaust, i already have a 2nd deat pipe,de-resonated centre section and a tsl group n backbox fitted.

The exhaust note will be louder, by how much depends on the rest of the system. Other thing is that you should be able to hear the turbo spooling up much more clearly/easily, like a mild whistling. It's cool

Just re-read post; you should be pretty loud with that set-up.

It will sound like a jetfighter taking off

Lots of raspy air action... only way I could describe it when I had my old WRX done. Lots of turbo noise as well which sounds awesome

Major pops and bangs!!

Sorry to hijack, but i've got a full stainless and was wondering if I got a de cat would I need to have it mapped??

Some do, some don't, but you certainly wont maximise the gains without one.

just got a de-cat down pipe and got it mapped also i have got a blitz nur specR exhaust sounds louder and alot more throatier and as mcwrx said it sounds like a jet engine"god it does"

hey... on the subject.. i had downpipe done today... love the sound and defo hear the turbo spool up better... its sweet.
i've got a 99 uk turbo after today with full exhaust..

all it is, on tickover it sound like the exhaust is blowing from underneath...Is It Just Me or is that normal... any ideas

Mine wasn't a great deal "louder" as it were but it did get a much deeper tone/burble and at high revs you get some great pops. The turbo sound is more audible even with a recirc DV.

mine sounds the same mate but its not blowing ,its just pipe noise,you have nothing to deaden the noise with now seen as you have removed the cat so in theory its just like blowing down a piece of pipe.
