Standard airbox with a decent panel filter will do you unless you are running a FMIC.

Standard airbox is good for about 300bhp and won't suck hot air in from the engine bay

So are you saying you will not get a bhp increase by using an induction kit??

Ie will adding a K&N typhoon or whatever not give you a 10bhp increase over using the standard airbox ???

There no gain at all to be had really up to around 300bhp maybe even more. The o/e set up is pretty good. What ever you add its going to need to be mapped for to make sure its safe.

So you may get added power. But is that the re-map or the induction kit?

Well in other cars you generally get a 5-20bhp increase in changing over to induction, I guess the answer is don't bother on a scoobie unless you're going for a remap.

the answer is , do what YOU want to do,

most people are **** scared of breaking their MAF's by fitting an induction kit, but thats only cos people tend to fit them without securing to anything and then the maf vibrates and ****s up ...

if you fit an induction kit - mount it to something propperly

The "Big Secret" with scoobies is that the standard airbox is a brilliant bit of kit and doesn't usually need changing. If you listen to what the mappers say, your standard airbox is good for 350-400bhp, so unless you intend on taking the car further then an induction kit is unnecessary, maybe just go for a panel filter. The main problem with induction kits are that they are open so theres a risk they can suck in hot air from the engine bay unless properly shielded, therefore actually reducing power. I run an induction kit but thats only because i have to, as my car runs a front mount intercooler so the pipe work goes through the area where the standard airbox sat. I built a shield between the induction cone and the engine to try and protect it from the hot under bonnet temps as much as i could.

To summarise, don't buy an induction kit unless you have to, it ain't broke so dont fix it! Spend your £100 on something else. Do as your doing and do a little research before you buy and ask lots of questions and you can save yourself a fortune and get better results too. Hope this has helped you. Taylor.

Read pages 10 to 13 ish, you will see by fitting the induction kit the car is actually 5 bhp down on the standard air box with K&N panel!
That straight enough for ya??
