Default Sealing a tankard

A very random question, but Ive been given the task of sealing the base of a tankard. Its the pewter sort with a glass section in the base, quite cool really.

Any ideas what I could/should use? I was thinking clear silicon sealant, but was wondering if it might be poisonous...

Is it a subaru tankard i assume so as it is in general

silicone sealant will do fine as long as it is a standard sealant, not a bathroom/kitchen type with mould and bacterial inhibitors. just basic clear stuff, once dry it is odourless and will not taint.
