I dont know if this thread has been done before , but im a fairly new member .

Does anyone know if a UK dealer has taken an import in part exchange at all , and if so did they pay a lot less for it

 

Do you mean an import from Holland for example or one from japan?
The latter scenario is very unlikely

 

i would have thought that given the current car market even a jap import would be considered in p/x by at least some dealers.

although i expect they'll offer you a much lower price than you'd expect the car to be worth.

You should get a P/X on any import - Japanese or EU - but dont expect much by way of comparison with an unmolested UK spec model ... the UK spec car will always command the top money (and dont mess about with it either!! )

Doubtful. If IM find out they will no doubtless nail the dealers gonads to the table with a rusty 6" nail.

Most dealers will sell straight on to an import specialist and have no intrest in the car.Import specialists nedd at least a 3 grand cushion on a car of around 14 to 20 grand so a dealer will offer you buttons. better off selling private or trading in for a new import or uk spec to a import dealer as they usually sell uk cars too,if you want a new car then youll just have to take big dive if you cant sell private.
