41. you hold up faster accelerating cars by refusing to move over on empty dual carriageways because you've got an attitude problem

42.you drive so dangerously owners of faster cars decide to give up on making fast and safe progress in order to not be involved in your accident

43. you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about people driving 300bhp FWD hot hatches just because one with 200bhp whupped the *** of the current Impreza on a damp/wet track and they have a better image/cost less to run/are faster most of the time.

Nothing, these are some attributes I saw from the driver of a 'hawkeye' Impreza last time I was in the UK. Considering it was wet and he had his son in the car I'd have thought he'd have driven within his rather obvious limits.

You can associate the above with any brand of the car, it is down to person driving the car not the car itself!
I mostly drive in the 1st lane doing between 60/70 mph on the motorway.

So you don't think that some of the attitudes we see on here (particularly the numpties who think AWD allows them to drive quickly in the wet) don't indicate there are a higher number than average of Impreza drivers with those attitudes?

Certainly when I owned Imprezas I didn't assume my car was one of the fastest things out there and I regarded the AWD as something to enhance active safety rather than a mean of driving dangerously as seems to be the attitude of some on here.

Quite honestly I believe there is a new breed of even-more-clueless-than before Impreza driver posting on this BBS. The only crumbs of comfort are that

a>it won't be long before some of them post details of their accident on here

b>I either overtake them safely with ease or let them get on their way if they seem hell bent on an accident.

Have to disagree with number 10.
My fuel cap locks in nicely to the bracket on the fuel flap, MY00.

Chatting to a guy who lives at the end of my street he's just bought a my05 sti. He was coming home along the a12 from london and a **** in an new bmw m3 came within a couple of feet of a his rear bumper. He didn't want to race so he moved over and let the guy past. Two miles further down the road the bmw was on it's roof. The guy stopped and phoned the police. Luckily the guy was ok and nobody else was injured. The conditions were very wet.

Mostly it's people in German cars such as Porsche, Merc, Bmw and Audi who don't know how to drive in wet conditions and have no consideration for anybody else on the road.

43. You wonder why owners of other cars feel the need to spout drivel on Subaru forums rather than just bugger off to their own.

I'm having a good day and I'm not the person boasting about how I can drive dangerously in the wet on this forum. The chip seems to lie firmly with the owners of a now sadly outdated Japanese AWD car who can't face the facts that their cars have been outclassed by a breed of car that are little more than hotted up shopping trolleys.

Was thinking the same thing have seen a few threads with you appearing to be angry at Impreza owners/drivers.

As I've owned several Subaru cars and will no doubt own more in the future. You may also notice I've been a member since 2003 with this user name and since 1999 with others. I'm in this for the long run.

I don't have a problem/anger towards Subaru drivers other than the numpty I talked about earlier in this thread and the 'I have AWD therefore I can drive fast in the wet' brigade. The fact is they can't and it's all BS pub talk IMO.

I'm already a member of that site, 911uk and several others. My driving skills have nothing whatsoever to do with what car I'm driving currently either......

You must admit that the average driver can drive much faster/safer in the wet with AWD than a powerfull FWD car.

The average driver no doubt feel that they are safer and faster in the wet with AWD.
'Average' being the key word, some people might even say 'poor driver'.

AWD doesn't help you stop any quicker does it?

Maybe you should take this to one of the German car owner's forums. As stated previously they seem to be the majority of people that drive dangerous in the wet and are mostly complete and utter *****!

If you use the engine braking makes a big difference.

So using engine braking in an AWD car allows you to stop in a shorter distance in the wet than a FWD car using engine braking?

Which Impreza came as standard with a set of AP6 pots on it? Or is it the case you could easily add enhanced braking capability to a FWD car as well?

You have all 4 wheels engine braking so yes probably a little but it would be so much more stable under hard braking.

I used to have a 205 GTI and in the wet it was easier to lose the back end going in to a round about than it was once on it.

Careful: best not mention tail-happy wet weather behaviour in the presence of an owner of a car who's obsolete layout still has the engine dangling out behind the back axle.
