Sometimes you can't beat a small and simple car. My girlfriends Seicento Sporting is more fun than my Scoob (well, below about 30mph!)

I love driving the mini and am fairly confident of not amassing points etc as the fun you have at lower speeds is great.

A Hummer parked up next to me at some lights at least i assume it was because all I remember was a distinct lack of light, however that million tonne beast ate my dust come the green light mostly out of fear of being driven over though

Unfortunately that is the only place the mini can park because the drive is full.

Nacro, with all due respect, it seems you're trying to seek attention wherever you can!!! Stop making a fool of yourself! If you don't have anything practical to say DON'T say it. Your silly comments will only start a string of useless and my ***** bigger than your ***** type of posts!

I used to own a modified Mini 10 years ago and I loved it. I spent every spare minute in the garage modifying it, cleaning it, polishing it, mending broken bits, talking to it and wherever I went I used to get people coming up to me to say what a lovely car it was

The temptation to buy another one as a fun runaround has always been very strong and I've even got as far as looking at another modified one with a serious view to buying it. However I can't help but think it would disappoint me now as I've got used to an altogether much more refined type of car (it's not hard to be more refined than a Mini ) so perhaps I should just stick with my memories.

I beg to differ. I love driving the mini as its such different experience changing from the Scooby to the mini, from power steering and AWD to battling the steering wheel and FWD. Just need little reminders that the power isn't quite the same.

This one is an awesome Cooper with genuine Mini exhaust - no I dont mean a small exhaust - which makes a great noise.

I say do it you won't be dissapointed

Thumbs up

Bro in law's brother had one YEARS ago, it was an ex BMC rally car, which he bought for a song off someone who had just been told his Datsun 240Z had arrived and needed paid for

It was awesome! It had four Lucas LR700 spots and went like sh*t off a fork

Weighs as much as an empty pack of ****, has a surfeit of power over grip and pointy steering. Very funny when it catches out unsuspecting folk with it's nippy turn of speed.

Yes I know However when sat inside I can't see how silly I look. Basic and cheap to buy but good fun too. It has Daihatsu running gear (850cc and three cylinders) so is reliable and robust but parts can be pricy.

The only downside i get from driving the mini is when i have a brain fart and forget that I can't quite overtake a million cars in one go without a bit more forward thought.

God bless these little run arounds.

This brings back memories. My first car was a heavily modded 1380 Mini running on 13" rubber

My second was a Daihatsu Charade GTTI 3 cylinder turbocharged little monster that I kept blowing up

I've only ever driven a Mini once, my first ever driving lesson. It had the standard large steering wheel, with the consequence that I had to drive with the window open so I could get my shoulder out, as I couldn't shuffle the wheel in the approved manner with it closed. Shame it was the middle of winter, and raining. Truly a memorable experience.

I agree totally. I love my scooby.(Yes, love) but the only car to come close would be a mini. I've owned quite a few. From a '67 and a '69 coopers s to a BMW cooper s. not to mention a few heavily modded ones in between. These are two of the few cars where other owners wave at each other for a start.
Mini's are love or hate,
These are both more than cars, they both become part of your life(and your bank account)

Don't know about more fun but I have a similar garage to yours (spec C and a 1991 Mini Cooper with John Cooper S Works kit) and I love them both. Some comparisons:

Acceleration in spec C is awesome v acceleration in mini is tiresome
Can can take local roundabout at 50 mph v can can take local roundabout at 50 mph
Spec C costs £££'s to service v mini needs fixing every week (how are your electrics??)
150 mph in spec C feels quite exciting v 100 mph in mini feels ******* terrifying
All the blokes in scoobies wave to the spec C v all the lasses in minis wave to the Cooper

I went to college with a lad who's dad owned Mini Sport. It's in a place called Padiham in Lancashire. His dad invented the first 5 speed gear box mini. (original mini) Anyway, he brought a mini demonstrator to college. Rally prepared, 45 grands worth of car. One of the other guys I went to college with managed to get insurance on his dad's saphire cosworth.

Two people in the cosworth. Four of us in the mini. Me squeezed in the back. This mini left the cosworth standing. Then it went around two roundabout so quickly it wasn't true, the cosworth didn't stand a chance. Onto a dual carriage way and the cosworth sailed past but great cars.

Apparently, the mini was restricted because it would take off at 120mph. At 110mph it felt like 200mph though.
