Keep the classics! - road tax!!!!!
have you guys seen the prices of car tax now and in the near future?
if your scoob is made after 2001 then your gonna be screwed by the government yet again.
IMO the older scoobs are going to hold there value (if not increase) and the newer ones are going to drop like hell......IMO
Road tax - Parker's
eg. if you have a 03 wrx sti and you've not long put 12months tax on it then next time you tax it its going to cost you £242 for 6 months and £440 for 12 months ........and going to cost even more the year after.
please post all your comments about our lovely government below

Only one classics with a registration date after March 01.
Very very few classics have a 51 plate. I've seen two P1s and a classic wagon.
Cars before March 2001 can only go on engine size and not CO2 level. For instance my wifes leon has a 1.9TDI and is a W so its £200. My mothers Audi has the same TDI engine and even a higher BHP model but the CO2 level means its going to drop to £150.
Its extremely unfair and the cheapest way to tax the carp out of us.
I was planning on a Bugeye STI has a long termer but not a chance now - not paying say £1000 over 5 years. Its another classic for me without question - or an EVO5

My dad bought his 53 plated STI PPP a few weeks back, he's going to be well chuffed when i point this out to him having just sold his 51 plated UK300 which im sure was just within the "cheap" road tax. Tee Hee.

Do all you classic owners seriously not think you are next in line?? Remember that not so long ago it was only 06 or later cars
Let's make sure we vote these fcukwits out next chance we get - that way you may preserve your tax status .

All you classic owners, I really wouldn't be rubbing your hands with glee too much on your road tax benefits at the moment.
Heres whats going to happen:
1). Motor manufacturers are going to complain that new car sales are slumping because of the road tax increases
2). They will also point out the disparity in the price of road tax of say an N reg 3.0 V6 Omega and a modern more enviromentally friendly VW Golf 1.4 that pays way more in tax
3). The government will agree and will promptly retrospectively increase the road tax on ALL cars no matter what age they are.
This is a short term benefit, the only reason the government didn't introduce it to all cars in the first place was simply because they didn't want to run the risk of widespread public protests. By doing it this way (i.e. staged) the good old British Public will end up swallowing it, moan, and do nothing about it.
Labour have staged pretty much all of their tax increases since Brown has been Chancellor, and I see no difference now.
By the next budget, I would imagine Darling will revise the car tax structure again, and include all cars.
Vote Labour!!

For example, mine is a 1993 car registered in 2003. Its logged as an Impreza 2.0 GL. As the car was not made after 2001, they dont have the emmisions data for it.
They will have to default back to the old rating going by the CCs of the engine. I cant check this on the DVLA as my insurance has just lapsed (not using it).
Its the same with the Mot, they have to find a car that sounds similar and test it against that.

Also known as daz
Yup my classic has been registered since october 2006 yet i still pay according to engine size.
Question is, when do they start to have emmisions data on import cars.

There are few cars I'd pay over £400 a year tax for, and any Impreza isn't one of them.
