Default 54 2.0 STi or 55/06 2.5 STi??

Ok after owning 2 classics i am tempted to come back into impreza ownership and now looking at new age models.

The cars im specifically looking at is as per the title, the 03-54 shape 2.0 STi and the newer 55-06 2.5 STi but really stuck on which model to go for.

Dare i say it the other option is an EVO IX FQ-300 which seem to be the same price as the 2.5 STi`s.

Do the 55 2.5 STi's have equal length manifolds hence dont have the flat four throb?

What does the PPP consist of on both cars? panel filter, remap and back box? what power figures?

The FQ300 evos seem to respond really well to just a decat exhaust and remap seeing figures into the high 300`s. What are the 2.5 STi's like for tuning?

Thanks in advance

Nope still there (I think ??? well sounds like it to me)

Remap - Prodrive Exhaust - (Fuel pump ???) 305bhp listed more like 290-295

340-350 no problem with remap on ppp

Thanks in advance
Big difference is tourqe and "peppyness"(new word alert). 2.0 is revvy or"peppy" where as the 2.5 is quick before the boost even comes on due to massive tourque (2.5 STI with PPP pushes out about 340 ftlb standard ..well mine does).

Drive both though as they are very different. Many more mods available for blob eyes rather than hawk eyes such as body or even wheels so check this out first.

Interior is much nicer imho in hawkeyes. but frankly blobs are loads fkin cheaper so you pays your money .....

Either way both bloody marvellous and the scooby community is excellent I've found !!

i bought an 06 sti, first subaru ive owned. when standard was very quiet and although felt quick it didnt give me a real buzz. then had remap, exhaust, fuel pump, plugs and filter change. now it rumbles everywhere and puts a real smile on my face . the above gave me a figure of 369bhp and 417lbs/ft on a road map i test drove the evo before buying and found the suspension just to harsh as i use the car everyday.

Same mods as Hallsy and I got 360bhp/390LbFt, which from previous conversations on here seems to be a fair average from a 2.5ltr STI. You had better test drive both cars though as they are very different and suit different driving styles.

Looks wise is down to personal opinion but for me the hawkeye is the only good looking scoob since the classic. The Evo is better looking than any scoob by a mile... but you need deep pockets to keep an FQ on the road.

Although I do admit the blobeye was a big improvement over the bug... but like I said this is all personal opinions.

Obvisouly I like the look of the hawk in fact I've always liked the blob and even the bug's grown on me. Personally I think the Hawk still looks modern (maybe the interior could do with a refresh) and the new subaru hasn't done anything to affect that (probably "because" it's so very different) where as the new EVO had made every previous EVO look fairly old instantly... Each to their own I guess.

Thanks for all your input guys, the FQ Evo is now out of the running after doing some more research on running costs and I will be using the car as a daily driver.

Going to look at an 03 STi with PPP and a standard 54 STi this afternoon at subaru dealership, could be back to scooby ownership soon
