Hi everyone
I have been looking at buying a 97 sti 555 limited edition, it has done 103000 miles on the clock, but guy said engine had been replaced but dealer couldnt find paperwork (said he would look for it). What is the average mileage of these vehicles and is there any kind of problems that I should be looking for? Going to cost me all my savings so dont want to buy a dud.
Any info and advice really appreciated.
thanks

Hey there,
Always try and have some cash put aside for running issues when buying an Impreza.
If its going to cost you all your savings you may be stuffed if you buy it and then something goes pop.
To put it into context, I bought my UK Turbo with 62,000 on the clock. Within a couple of months I had to replace the MAF sensor (£80 for parts) and get new tyres (£380 - dont be cheap on tyres).
So be prepared for issues to arise once you've bought the car.
To be honest I would'nt trust the guy. He says its had the engine replaced but his word is worthless without proof. When was it done, what was the milage of the replacement engine etc etc.....
Dont buy the first scoob you see, look around as its a buyers market at the mo and there are loads of good ones out there.
Dont want to sound harsh but would hate to see you get stuffed.
Either way - good luck.
