1.25 bar on 97 WRX
Sorry to bang on about this but getting conflicting advice. Interested in opinions.
Powerstation set up my on board variable boost the other day with the max seeting at 1.2 bar. This spikes in the middle of the rev range to 1.25 (odd occasion 1.27) then falls back as revs increase as you would expect.
Does the same on the lower setting of 0.8- spikes at 0.9 ish then falls off slightly.
Cold weather influence? Too much for a 97WRX on the max setting? Could the dump valve influence this? Im off to Forge later to get the spring changed.

Powerstation set mine @ 1.25 as well.
They said it was for safety.
Some tell me they are running on 1.4 and got a higher bhp/lb a foot than me.
I'm happy to take their advice, I don't want it going bang.

Thanks Alan, was that on a boost controller? For example the max boost is 1.25? My over boost is set at 1.4 I think. Keep reading people say it should be 1.1
Does your turbo sound different at the top end (5,550 revs +) when at 1.25bar? Strange question I know.

When Andy F first mapped mine with the boost being controlled by the Power FC he set max boost to 1.25 bar even though the VF29 hybrid turbo I have will handle more midrange.
After fitting an AVCR I now have 1.45 midrange, starting to tail off at 6.5k to 1.25 at 7k. Spikes to 1.5 ish sometimes.
Wayne.

Christ knows how my old classic is still going, 1.63 bar @ 7000 rpm on standard internals last week when it came back for a check up 426bhp
It's not like it's got an easy life since I got rid of it either, I think it's been to every track in the country and I'm off to the nurburgring with the owner on the 10th of next month
Anyway, onto early classics, yes 1.25 does sound a little high.
I would have set that to 1.1
If it manages to hold 1.1 after a little spiking then maybe the "gain" needs a little tweak to stop it from overshooting on the colder days..
