I was gutted when I read that article! The Integrale has been a car I MUST own one day ever since watching Kankkunen and co. rallying them through Kielder many moons ago! To be beaten by a mildly hot hatch, well....

It seems when ford built the focus, they genuinely built a good car, with good looks. And now when anyone tries to design a new car, they either base it on the focus, or the focus is just the perfectly designed car....(lookwise)
The new impreza, mazdas, vauxhalls and now the integrale lol.

That was a pointless exercise: no Integrale ever won a race round a circuit. It was a rally car. Why didn't they carry out the test in a forest stage or up an icy Alpine pass? Idiots.

I'd be surprised if that ever gets to production.
There was no EVO3. As said the Integrale EVO was a homologation for going rallying. Even in pre-evo state, it was still based on a 70s design.
Completely pointless test IMO. Also, what would really make you feel special driving? A piece of rally history or some french hatch **** box?

Yeah i read that article, and i quite enjoyed it! But yeah the Integrale was not a track car, never desgined to be, and a couple of those hot hatches... well they are certainly focused in that direction, i'm sure you'll agree. Would have been a better test if they just took them all out onto some technical, "real" roads (i.e. lots of imperfections, cambers, all that stuff), to asses point to point capabilities where raw bhp counts for less. And i mean a really tough pice of road, ideally single track. THAT would have been great, and alot more realistic if you see what i mean

This is my old Integrale from about 8 years ago - no idea if it's still on the road.
It was a troublesome beastie back than so god knows what one would be like now.
On the right road, when in the right mood however it was just fantastic to drive.

Here's an unmolested example, and you do pay for what you get with these awesome carshttp://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=52

The original Deltas rule and always will in looks/sounds, etc for me. The new one though.......nasty!!! Agree with Volvo C30 comment above, plus it just stinks from every angle. They should shelve the design now.
