Actually, the fuller the tank is the safer it is (higher fuel air ratio= less chance of )..!
Not looked at JGM's guide, so this has probably been covered, but having done a few of these there's just a few things to look out for.
Firstly, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY..!
Second, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY..!!
Third, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY..!!!
Now that's out of the way, removing the rear seat entirely helps access and it only takes a few mins a x5 12mm bolts..
Remove filler cap to release some pressure from tank.
Hoses can be a pain to remove (even with clips loose) as they can be tight and access is limited. Brake pipe clamps help to rotate them a bit to loosen up and also prevent excess spillage (note you will spill fuel doing this so have plenty of rags to hand).
Try not to drop any nuts or lose rubber 'O' ring seal into/down side of tank.
Rotate assembly 90deg helps lifting it out. Do not force or float mechanism will be damaged. BTW when refitting, do so with float lifted up.
re-use OEM filter sock, as it's generally bigger than Walbro equivalent.
Basically, take your time and no smokes or mobile calls (in fact turn it off and leave in house)..!
If in any doubt, entrust job to someone who knows what they're doing..!
