08 Impreza WRX STi
Well i collected my beast at 3pm this afternoon and so far im really really impressed with it. This is my first Impreza, the new look won me over and tempted me away from a VW Golf Edition 30.
The ride is superb, quite firm but not solid like the Civic Type R and the engine is a peach when its on boost. My only slight moan would be that the steering is quite light but it does weight up well at speed.. speaking of speed so far i have only took her to 120 going up a hill as the brakes need bedding in (Oh and before you all kick off 120mph is legal here on the Isle of Man.) but i just had to see what the performance was going to be like. Hopefully ill be able to get out for another drive later as i really want to get some miles on it and get my confidence with it round the twisties.
I was impressed with the level of service that the main Subaru dealer gave me here on the Isle of Man - Rob at Barry Curran Motors went out of his way to insure a speedy delivery and most importantly managed to secure me a cancelled order which alledgedly was the last physical STi (within the main dealer network) in the uk... If i had wanted a different colour then i was looking at a 3 month wait at the very minimum.
Options fitted are the blue tooth phone kit and folding rear boot tray to stop my golden retriever destroying the carpet. The blue tooth is great apart from the wire for the microphone which is visable on top of the steering column.
I think ill have to get some Gold wheels but im going to wait for a bit and see how i get on as im not sure which ones will suit it best.

Congratulations. .
Two things to note here . . .You made the right choice by shedding your VW Golf Edition 30 . . However . . You could have looked further than this Korean manufacturer for your new vehicle!!
Have a blast man! Hope you enjoy it!

How much was it and do you have a photo of the installation as might consider for my new WRX

Will check the invoice for the price of the blue tooth.. think 180 + Vat rings a bell. Also take a pic for you tomorrow.

Nice car 18"s certainty improves the handling
i tried a UK and a JDM 08 STi and the UK steering did have a lighter feel than the JDM, probably due to it having a quicker rack than the UK IMHO

I have the Parrot bluetooth in my car, only £99 fitted from halfrauds, got a little mic above the Rear view mirror and a 2 button (red and green) configeration(sp) on the front console, just above stereo. looks good and works a treat.

you can achieve 120mph in the new STi without going over 4,500RPM ... also the car doesn't actually need to be run in as there is no requirement for the 1000 mile service. Even though most owners should still do it. So no-one will be getting in trouble with Subaru if they don't. Obviousely brakes are a different matter.

Looks excellent mate. I'd get myself the front fogs and under tray spoiler - should finish it off nicely.
Oh, gold BBS wheels FTW!
Can't decide whether I prefer WR Blue or White - both look amazing!

I had been test-driving various cars for a few weeks when I wrote the letter, I had a test-drive in the STI a couple of days after I sent it. I ordered one on the same day as the test.
Next Performance Car out tomorrow, and as you know it’s the STi against the R32.

Exactly - can't wait to read the article.
Hoping to get the finances sorted in the next few weeks and I'll be on the lookout for an MY08. Would like to try and get a deal on an ex-demo though to avoid a long wait.
Cheers.
