Default Buying from Ebay, U.S.A

HI all,

Have any of you purchased anything from the States via Ebay?

Just wondered if you only paid for goods + delivery or did you have to pay any 'hidden' charges?

Cheers

Nathan

you should be ok if its a good seller but as for fee's you might get stung for custom's charges....really depends on the value or if the seller will mark as a gift/sample and maybe mark down value that might help

I have bought sunglasses from the US a couple of times with no hassle at all. Even the delivery time was reasonable.

As bpm1588 has said, Always try and source the item as gift or a sample this way you won't need to pay import tax which is quite a stinger when you get it. I've bought stuff with no import tax and stuff with import tax. Sample or Gift will do.

yeah, best bet is to ask them nicely to mark it gift/samples...or you'll get stung by the sh1thead customs, some get through, some don't...

i bought my daughter loads of dora the explorer toys 2 christmas's ago because they had more out over in the states and cost alot less ,they marked it as gift on a very large box but i still got a letter through my door asking me to pay £50 or around that in tax wasnt impressed but id still buy from over there.

ive noticed that american ebay has loads of scooby bits really cheap like genuine sti spoilers going for peanuts

Bought two Valentine 1 radar detectors last year off Ebay for £560 delivered - they are £600 each in this country.Came home in less than a week from the States and were marked as a gift so avoided import duty.Spent 5 minutes resetting them to the Euro spec and they have been perfect ever since.
Also bought spray gun gauges for half the price they are in this country and a complete Cusco rear diffuser kit for the Scooby.
Wouldnt hesitate to buy again.
