Sti Spec D Tyres question
Hi
can anyone advise the make/model of the tyres on an STi Spec D? I know they are Bridgestones, but they have a really neat tread pattern on them and I want some!
cheers

You obviously haven't tried them I hated them with a passion, and changed for F1 s after 4000 miles
They are a great performance tyre and standard on all versions of the 06 STi. They suit the STi, but I would argue that on the spec D the F1 Asymetrical is a more suitable ride.
Depends what you want from the tyre, and there are plenty here that love them, but for my style of driving in the Spec D, the F1A do away with the RE070's tram-lining, high noise and wear problems.
I certainly wouldn't buy them cos "they have a really neat tread pattern" !!

On the other hand....
I've just finished 21k miles on my first RE070s without any wear problems. the fronts need replacing now.
Yes, there was bad tramlining, but this was due to the wheels pointing in all directions.
I don't seem to have noticed the poor wet weather handling that others go on about - I just slow down for the conditions. Perhaps the issue is again poor alignment?
The dry grip in warm weather is the major plus point of them.
The other benefit is that they are quite cheap. Low mileage sets are quite easy to find from those who don't like them

I also hated the RE070's with a passion - worst tyres I've ever driven on!
Big fan of Goodyear F1's and also love Pirelli P-Zeros. Not done many miles on them, but first impressions of the Dunlop SP-600's is also very good!

They are good tyres but quite focused. If you drive the car every day and want quiet comfort there are more suitable tyres. Can't do much better than the Vredestein Sessantas which is what I changed to when I bought 18's
Wrong shoes for the occasion thats all
Wet weather handling is fine it's greasy roads that can cause surprises on the 70's.

the spec D is an STI with a different hat isn't it.
I had the Bridges as standard and dry grip is awesome and the wet is also very good but in the cold (not a summer problem) they are utter crapola. They do tramline terribly though so that is the only reason they are being replaced by F1s on mine (backs done now the fronts).

From my point of view the Spec D has been designed as a more comfortable version of the standard STi - the F1As offer the same (or arguably) greater all-round performance than the RE070 as well as better comfort and an easier driving experience.
I'm not saying for one minute the RE070 tyres aren't suitable for the Spec D, but that the F1As are a better match to the Spec D's "discreet" profile and the reason for me choosing the Spec D over the standard STi.
Having said that, if I had a standard STi, I'd still change to the F1As
