Fastest car in the UK I know is Mark A's (R19KET). I remeber seeing him having to brake on my tail when I had my foot thru the throttle. That was B4 his turbo swap too. Very fast car indeed. He is also one of the better on rolling roads, but he never quotes from them as he doesnt believe in them

Modest man indeed.

Cool

Shaun is very quick at SPOD in my car as he changed into reverse doing 90MPH while I was watching LOL what a muppet!

Mark A does have a fast car indeed shame he can't drive either LOL, we all know the Master Mapper AKA R19 KET still can't beat my Red one and he can't drink.

MarkF, most of us sensible types don't race on the road do we Shaun its too dangerous on the road and road comparisons mean Squat! because the driver infront of you could have accelerated 1 second earlier hence a 20 foot gap between cars!

Ron - not aimed at you.........

Harj, if I can't drive, doesn't say too much about your ability does it? Says a lot about the lack of it though....

except on the arcades......

I think Js must be one of the fastest - when it's mapped proplerly..

Harjs old WRX is probably the quickest mildly tuner WRX

Stefs must be about the quickest UK car.

Theres one other quick one out there, but I can't remember who's it is.........

Harj if you'd read my post again I say that I don't condone racing on the roads. I was pointing out that someone may drive quickly on a wide open track with a good surface but may not be nearly as quick down a narrow bumpy road compared with another driver. It's the horses for courses thingy..

Just wundering who had the fastest Scoob in the UK, and not the Rally boys either, just the road going versions.....

Saw a couple accelerate from the Meet in notts, think there were STI type R's (i'm not in models) and they didn't appear to be very fast at all.

I'm not in for loads of abuse just generally interested, as i may be looking to buy one, but so far they seem alot slower than say an EVO 6....

Dingy!

You know my old Red Beast that was pretty fast! 1/4 mile time of 12.7 ! One of the quick ones I think.

Harj, just to see how fast what was the terminal speed.
A GTI-R can match that, but purely because it gets of the line but they aren't very fast in third and forth gear...

Which is where I feel you need all the power.

They are slower than the Evo VI which is a very nice car to drive .
They are also a lot more common than the Evo VI which is a very nice car to drive
But I'm still not changing mine yet so there!
34,000 miles. Never thought I'd ever do that amount of miles in the same car
Mines UK model. And its an awesome car to drive. But its all subjective. Every other scoob I see sounds different and seems to be faster. Strange that.

Sorry mate I don't have the slip here, not the sort of thing I carry in my wallett unlike you hey LOL. I think the Terminal Speed was something like 113 or around that.

When crossing the line at SPOD I remember that I was in 4th and I wasn't even near the redline, something like 6-6.5 revs.

IR!

My car was a mere 97 WRX not even an STI and beleive me many STI's have tried and failed I car I know of will surely beat the time when its setup is Craig Hardmans car of which im sure is more than capable of low 12's or maybe 11's

Bummer that he can't drive so he wants me to pilot it

This is interesting, My slowest Terminal at the POD is 112mph but the time was 14.8.

Think if i got off the line like a scoob i would get into the 10's.

Fastest terminal is over 120mph but that was about 13.00 dead......

I havent run at Santa Pod, well, anywhere for that matter, Im going to take a drive up Northampton way in Feb, and give it a go, though I know Ill bog the launch (now thats confidence for you).
I imagine a 4 by is pretty easy to launch? Ill be desperately juggling wheel spin vs not enough revs, so you'll probally have time to read a small set of encyclopedia's by the time I cross the line.

4wd isn't that easy to launch - you either bog down, fry the clutch or get a good one - no inbetweens really........

We shall have to see what mine will end up doing - may need to spend some more cash first so I don't disappoint!

Craigs is gonna rock this year.

I am confident that my WRX (non STI) is one of the fruitiest compared to others. Air filter, exhaust and thats it. Bailey evo makes Essex style chirps and whooses and reduces lag a little through the gears but its nippy.

Perhaps a SPOD day for scoobynet/22b.com?

Get AP to attend and supply new clutches cheap!

Harj, go to work will ya!

Depends on how you mean by quickest. Some people are probably very good on tracks, some on drag strips and others on natural roads(not a speeding endorsement). Different cars are suited to different driving styles and road types so you would have to average it out over every driving style, surface condition, car set-up etc, etc.

How about the one in REVS which is supposed to have 375 bhp, and does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. IF it's true, there can't be many faster Scoobs in the UK or anywhere else.

Guys,

I live quite close to the POD, have a MY00 Prodrive....but if you ever see a flourescent (think thats spelt rite !) green renault 5 up there he'll eat you for breakfast, it's done the 1/4 in 11.xx, the only standard bit left of that moror is the handbrake cable ! and he only races it although it is taxed and tested for the road.
...and that b**tards fron wheel drive !

Hi Dingy,

If I remember correctly it was wet and icy at the Toby and all the cars pulled out the car park with cold engines.

Your white Escort was unsafe to bring out in such conditions and your black one was frozen up in the garage. .

Just joking M8, hope to see you again at Donno on the 13th

Lee

The fastest car may not have the fastest driver. I doubt my car is actually the fastest UK car in terms of potential performance, but I don't know of any UK cars quicker on paper, ie times for 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.

What about PC's MY94 RA?

Surely the quickest in the UK. Not much off a BTC if I recall correctly.

Cem,

Thanks, but I very much doubt it's anywhere near the quickest around. There are several people who have now gone internal, and their cars should certainly be quicker.

I think Mark F, made a very good point. Most of our cars are so close, that the drivers ability, and technique play a bigger part.

Stef is a good example of this on the track, and Harj excels at coming quickly, over a very short distance

Harj:
Don't forget that your WRX, is also quoted at 280ps, but runs a VF22 as standard....so it should be quick with a re-map. Anyway, how come you always neglect to mention what happened at Donno...... .

Next time we're at the POD, I'd love you to try my car, because like you say, I'm cr*p, and I know you will get a decent time for me

Mark.
