Default Newage Owners - boot info?

Hi guys....

I have just noticed on my 02 sti saloon..rear boot that there are 4 slots/holes on the end of the tailgate that closes down onto the rear bumper....

Anyone tell me if I'm missing something here?, I fail to see what the holes are for and think something should be there..

I'm getting a boot noise - like its moving while I'm going along and trying to stop it

Any ideas on how to cure a noisy boot? - I originally thought it was the shocks but certain now its something to do with the boot not sitting properly..

My MY02 WRX has two rubber bumpstops on the bottom of the bootlid, thimble sized, and two more on the underside of the top. The seal runs around the body, and there is no seal on the bootlid itself.

Not sure what the holes are?

I've got the 4 rubber bump stops as mentioned above, here's a picture i've just popped out and taken - there are also 4 rectangular small holes just where it sits at the bumper but these are just water drain holes.

p.s. That's a lovely looking Scoob you have, especially like the front end - very nice indeed

bog standard ?
Maybe to allow a trim panel to be fitted, but the cheapskate importers deleted the option to save money ?

Thanks for the replies guys......

For the life of me I can't find out where this noise is coming from... Ido have the large 2 bump stops and 2 smaller ones fitted tthe boot but as I'm going along I hear the boot going "nock nock"

It's not the shocks, definately the boot - its just as though you lift the boot up and let it bounce type of noise....

I have cleaned the rubber all the way round the boot and the bump stops... all the bolts on the arms that hold the boot to the car are tight??

I'm lost anyone help

You should ask "who's there" ?

Behind the seat are two vertical struts that are bolted on....

Mine had a bolt missing and the other was loose.

To try it press against the cardboard bulkhead from inside the boot !

To get to it you have to remmove the rear seats.

two bolts down behind your calves when sat in the back, remove base, then loosen off the lthree/four lower bolts and lift the seat back upwards.

HTH
