i remember someone off here getting 25.000 miles out of the falkens but they must'nt drive that hard! i do know over on typera.co.uk a lot of guy rate them very highly and do get more miles out of them than the toyo's....i guess its all about your driving style etc.
to be honest if your running 205/45/16's i'd think about the goodyear f1's at 70 odd quid, they are up there with the very best

I work for a tyre depot and the most popular tyres at a decent price are Kuhmo - KU31s being the better ones
The tyre fitters say their customers rate them as good as most main brands and they last even longer

Never heard of them before. With goodyear you are paying for a name but what's good enough for f1 is good enough for me. I think for most people's driving on road it not going to make that much difference in all honesty. What are the semi slick looking tires they seem to fit to 18's on sti's. Surely they can't be any good in the wet?

I've just put a set of Bridgstone RE050's as recommended by Subaru on the rear of my '01 WRX. I'm really impressed at the mo and they have good bite, so they will also be going on the front.
The guy at the tyre center was real decent, bored the **** off me with all the talk about the coding on the tyres but he knew his stuff. the RE 040's i have on the front are Lexus spec as they no longer make the RE040 for the Impreza and the RE050 is the correct subaru OEM.
just me 2p worth

No, don't do it!!
The EP3 Civic Type R (last version, not the new one) came with RE-050's on as standard and although these were awesome tyres in the dry I found them to be shocking in the wet, in fact it only had to think about being wet and they gave up.
Eagle F1 GSD3's are current tyre of choice, although waiting to see how a mate gets on with the Assymetrics.
