Default 1st Track Day - Noise Limits

Hi All,

Looking at booking my first track day in July/August but worried about noise limits and getting turned away.

What would a full H and S decat system on a STI (bug) come through the noise meter at? Anyone with a similar set up and been tested?

The tracks i was looking have a limit of approx 102-105DB

Cheers

It will be around that mark, it also depends if Static test is only test Tracks like Donny & Bedford also have drive by meters.

It aslo depends on weather conditions etc etc and how fussy they are. "If" they have loads of complaints, they'll be tighter, "If" none probably no so

My miltek passed a 98db Donny static but failed rhe drive by 105db. We did some test on 10 scoobs after a Bedford noise incident, on a road near us. OK not very scientific

Some passed the static but failed Driveby and some failed static and passed driveby (the highest static reading actually passed the driveby, figure that out) Induction noise seemes to play a big part in driveby failures.

Try asking for yours to be tested the day before or ask if Bungs can be supplied.

Try local meets see if anyone has a meter you can use

same boat as you mate, lucky for me a friend works for palmer sport so i am off on saturday mornign to have the car tested to see if it will pass before i book up £200 quid on a trackday to find out i get kicked on the forst lap and cant get any money back

not to sure what systems people are running to be able to get track time

if i fail it will be time to adjust the exhaust system maybe back to the std box if it means i can run on the track.

Give the track a ring, most will check your noise levels FOC.

Thanks for the replies. Bedford was one I was really looking at as its fairly new, flat and lots of run off as a first track attempt.

I'll give the track a call and see if I can get tested FOC once the decat and map is on in June. Fed up with Airfields and having no tyres left at the end of the day due to the material used there (north weald was shocking after 3 hours :s)

Bedford is a very lovely circuit, Ideal for 1st trackday

but noise issues are it's downfall, as council have 2 noise meters outside track and Bedford have 2 on circuit. So they are very tight, modded Subaru's are notoriously noisey on Driveby's.

PPP'd scoobs pass their 98db days but anything else struggles.

Bedford are very good will do a static (101db) and driveby (86db) Test any day prior to the event

so if i was to put a ppp back box on for the day it should be ok? at a push!

that is with a decat downpipe and de cat centre section, if i just swap my back box over.
will this cause any damage or be too restrictive etc as the car has been mapped?
