Ever regretted selling up???
Recently just sold my uk turbo that i reckon was pushing out 275bhp, filter, exhaust and a remap etc. Thought id try a clio 182 cup. Dont get me wrong the car is as clean as you will find and relativly quick. And dont get me started on fuel 34 ish round town, seriously. I just miss the sound and performance of my old impreza. Anybody else made a similar move and in a way regreted it?

going from a turbocharged car to a normally aspirated car(although still relatively high powered) just ain the same. i had a 172 clio for week when i wrote the first scoob off and it aint the same
a mate who had an RS focus said the same when he dealt in for a clio 182 cup
he has now gone back to turbo charged power but has a bright yellow seat leon!! mincing!!

I changed my nearly bog standard UK turbo 7 months ago for a new octavia vrs tfsi, I can't say I've noticed a huge difference in power, but I do miss the sound of the boxer engine and my H&S exhaust, and the way the impreza awd flatters the driver. I don't miss the running costs though!

This will probably surprise a few people, but I miss having a flash car. However, I miss my Civic Type R more - was on a particularly fun slip road today and really wanted to drop it 3 gears and give it some beans, but just kept going at 63mph (I was in a hurry ) with cruise control on.
This is not a sermon, just a statement of fact. The cost of running cars has changed. I paid cash for my new CTR, got free servicing and tyres and so only had to pay for (cheap) road tax, insurance and petrol. Even doing big miles it was only costing me a few hundred quid a month. I took out a 10k loan to buy the STI which added £300 a month plus my fuel bill went up 50%. In the end you have to ask yourself how much you are prepared to pay for a car and in my case the thousands of Pounds I am saving was too much to ignore.
However, if someone can design a family car with a quality petrol engine that returns decent mpg on the motorway then I will be back.
You see I am not a total misery guts.

yesterday swoped my 52 reg WRX for a Alfa 147 jtdm purely because I am totally fed up with all the ripp off taxes, It really hurts today, the Alfa in its own right is a superb car but it aint a scooby,( only benefit being done 120 miles today averaged 49 mpg against the 27mpg I used to get )

once u have been bitten by the stars on the subaru badge there is no turning back!!
i was 8 weeks without a scoob when i wrote the other one off
missus could see how down i was, started to search the net for me to find a new one to cheer me up, at one stage she clicked on an EVO 4, said if it aint a scooby i dont want to look!!
what a lady!"!!!!! she knows the score
SCOOBYS ARE THE GREATEST CAR! if nothing just for the sound of the rumble in the distance, i can hear my brothers from don the bottom of my road so i am always outside waiting for him unlocking my own scoob just as he pulls up and off we go!

The plan was to only have it for a year then get something Fun again and here I am 2 and half years down the line with the Vectra!!!!
Then again I dont miss the fuel bills but things like Tyres, servicing etc are not that far removed from my old MY99 Impreza Turbo (UK car)

I sold my 94 wrx with 279bhp for a Clio 172. I don't regret it at all.
Although the clio isn't as fast, its certainly fun to drive. It may be french but its 9 years newer than my impreza and in my opinion a much better car.
I love imprezas but just can't afford a newer one. And the petrol costs are sooo much better in the clio.
Also I quite enjoy the fact that I don't get people staring at me all the time, and the fact that there is no more exhaust noise to annoy my neighbours etc.
Clio just blends in nicely and surprises people who think its just a clio.
Would only return to Impreza ownership if fuel was half the price it is now.

yep. Had a classic wrx which I sold for an R33 Skyline. A year & a hlf later I was back in an STi5 type R Skyline was ok, but just too big for the B roads. Had to be done though I guess....

thats interesting that you went to a skyline then back again. ever since i have owned my impreza i have slowly started to dislike all other cars. i have been thinking about selling and getting something different but nothing else cuts it.

Just got my first ever scooby. But two years ago I sold my evoIII which was about 325bhp and in perfecto condition. I had to cos my ex left me with me so much debt to deal with. As a run around I had to get a civic coupe which I hated everytime I got behind the wheel. So glad to be piloting something now that can hopefully give me as equal fun as the evo did.
Cos I only ever need to drive at weekends now I ignore fuel costs and just enjoy it.
