Default FMIC vs Bonnet Scoop

If you install a front mounted intercooler to your scoob, does the bonnet scoop subsequently serve any purpose or is it just made redundant and cause unnecessary drag and grit catching? If this is the case wouldn't it make sense to do away with it altogether (by perhaps fitting the bonnet of a non-turbo Sport or GL)?

Ideally, you would fit a different mould to draw heat from under the bonnet.

Moley_WRX has just fitted one in the projects thread. An Evo scoop does the same thing....

Alternatively, you may wish to fit a top mount oil cooler (my intention).

Just checked that Moley_WRX project thread. That's a good neat idea.

ARC do reversed bonnet scoops to draw air out of the engine in the case of having an FMIC setup. They can be had from japanparts.com.

What a lot of japs do here, is they simply turn the scoop around, so that the hot air can escape from the engine. It doesnt fit perfect, but its not too bad of a fit.....
